If your a big Jimmy Hendric fan or someone who appreciates memorials this is a place for you. It's a georgious monument that lays to rest one of the greatest guitarist of all time. It is georgiously done with a giant guitar in the center and walls with his face and quotes on the polished marble. When I was there it wasn't too buisy so I was able to peacefully reflect on Hendrix and who he was. The memorial shows the love of all his fans as can easily be seen by all the lipstick kisses left on his pictures or the guitar picks left as well. Also inside the main building you can see a special room they have for Hendrix which houses some concept art for his memorial as well as a gold record and a guest book for visitors to sign that once it gets filled up each time it gets sent to his family to remind them how much people still care for him. When visiting thogh keep in mind this is an active cemetery and have other family's grieving over the loss of their loved ones there as well so when visiting it's important to be very respectful and considerate of others who are there as well. Also with that in mind, if you expecting it to be like a museum to Hendrix with gift shop and everything centered around him, you will be disappointed. This is a very historic cemetery that has been around for over 100 years and as you will see when visiting they have many monuments to many people including some gerogious asian inpired monuments as well and just happen to have Hendrix as well. It is free to visit to the public and a great place to help be a little closer to history and remembrance. I would highly recommend to anyone who remembers to show the proper respect and care this...
Read moreWOW CANT BELIEVE IM THEE ONLY ONE THAT HAS REVIEWED JIMI'S LAST STOP ON E^art^H!!! Well i guess its fitting for me to be the one, Jimi's Father Al was one of my neighbors growing up in Seattle and it kinda had a HUGE affect on me and my PASSION for MUSIC! So there or 3 sets of rather larger marble markings around Jimi's open air tomb, they signify the 27 years here lived. There is a sundial there that is right up Jimi's Alley and its hard to say an accurate number of visitors that come to see Jimi each year hear because alot of them do not register inside so that being said i think the number that does register with the Greenwood Memorial Home is around 250,000 from all around the world each year to payt their respects to a man that loved People and thee Earth and Life More than any of us will ever know! Thanks for stopping by...
Read moreBecause it's Jimi, it will be 5☆ forever. They did a beautiful job on the Memorial. It is a must see for all Jimi Hendrix fans, and in my opinion, music lovers alike, to come and pay respect to one of guitar pioneers of a new generation. I hadn't been up since before it was completed, it was a crisp, chilly day, but with the sun and blue skies above made it perfect. The area is well maintained and easily accessible, it's a great way to reconnect yourself to the history of our area, to become centered and feel one with the music that paved the way for generations to come, you don't have to play within the confines of the instructions included in the crazy game of life, omg...what I would have given to have been able to see him play live. R.I.P. Jimi! #Forever27 #27Club Gone, but...
