THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON EXPERIENCE FROM DENTAL ASISTAIN PROGRAM: The whole system of the college is built in the way to get the most of the money out of your pocket. Every student is seen as potential source of money; therefore, this college will make decisions in favor of their own pocket. If you are week student you are most likely will be "finished" and forced to restart the quarter so college will charge you again for tuitions. Students are forced into purchasing books and equipment (some of them cost around $400) they will never use during the quarter and, very often, the teacher will collect the equipment/books at the end of the quarter for unknown reason... (probably, they are bringing it back to the bookstore for resale). Tests often contain errors and mistakes, based on old textbooks and cause confusion among students. However, it is students' responsibility to let the teacher know about those mistakes, otherwise, it will be graded as your own mistake... Overall, I can say this place is very shady and its money thirst is getting too obvious. Unlike other schools, this place is poorly organized. Students' interests are not prioritized and the "system" puts its own profit first. LIFE HACK: if you are forced to buy books/equipment, do not open its packaging so you can return it a few days later. You can always order it / buy it again if you will actually ever need to use those. Also, do not let teachers take your stuff (things you paid for) away, keep it so you can sell it on Craigslist/eBay and get your money back. If you have a choice, I would recommend Bellevue College or Green River college instead of RTC. Both schools have very organized teachers and new buildings. Much better experience...
Read moreI just started and I am dropping classes, late on a full refund but hoping to appeal it. I already got judged on my appearance and my personality by the teacher and class is about a powerpoint skim through it than loads of homework online and books. That’s not the accurate way to teach even if they have thousands of students graduating. We all don’t have the same intelligence, some of us need a little more than that. Exactly why I signed up because they said they have good teachings but that’s not what I witnessed and a lot of differences between students by teachers and I can assure many of us in the class can comfirm it. Never in my life, I felt useless by a teachers words that I ended up stressed and depressed and even close to suicidal thought from those judgements. I was really excited until now. Thank you RTC for taking that away from me.
update: Went in and they still want me to pay them when I thought i was getting at least 50%. But NO they said no. My review is NOT coming off until i get my money back and I still paid $100 for my background check. Sat down with the counselor and that was not a good answer I got. They made it seem all in the beginning that they had all the help and now it turns out it is a fast paced school no excuses and that it’s hard and all schools are like that...CORRECTION nooo NOT TRUE, other schools care about their students, At least let the student know the thruth and don’t lie to them. We spend hours trying to drop and get out, no one there cares about us or our feelings, just $$$$$$$!!!! We are signing up for edmonds and they went over every detail about their classes, thank you ECC for...
Read moreFinancial Aid-------Nightmare! I have a Pell Grant that covers my tuition at RTC, so I thought. I am a current student at RTC, and things have gone really smooth up until now. I received a letter in the mail from the financial aid office saying that they have dropped my financial aid for the quarter because I took two classes together that apparently I wasn't supposed to take together. They notified me after I received my certificate in one of the classes, and I am about to finish the others. I don't understand why I am just now being notified that my financial aid would not be covered for a quarter that I have worked my butt off to finish. They are saying I now have a balance due on my account, and have placed a block that is keeping me from registering for classes for next quarter. I am very frustrated. I should have been notified sooner so that I could have made the changes necessary to keep from violating financial aid policies. It is too late in the quarter to even drop the classes! It was an honest mistake, I had no idea I couldn't take certain classes together. At this point, they should have caught it/notified me sooner and should honestly have to eat the cost. Until then, I have no choice but to register for classes at Yakima Valley Community College who referred me and other nursing students to Renton Technical College for prerequisites, so I can keep on track. I will also let YVCC know what has happened, in case they would like to refer their students elsewhere. I am willing to take this review away if Renton Technical College decides to makes...
