My boyfriend and I are were looking for some lunch specials in Renton and mu boyfriend chose Fortune Noodle House out of the options that I had for him. We arrived here and there was only one other table occupied. We were greeted by the cashier/hostess/waitress who let us pick our table and dropped off some menus. I noticed the lunch special menu wasn't included and had to ask the waitress if they were doing a lunch. She brings over the lunch menu and tells me that they only have combo 2 and combo 3 so I went with my combo three while my boyfriend got the Single Dinner combo 2.
Our entrees come with a soup which I thought would be a simple soup but we were provided what taste like a Vietnamese soup that came with some noodles, meat, and vegetables. It was delicious and not too spicy that even my boyfriend enjoyed his portion. The food came after several minutes and it was just okay. The sweet and sour chicken tasted off, the meat just felt really off. The phad thai for me was not really flavorful and it was really clumpy which I'm not a fan of. The crab rangoon was delicious though. My boyfriend's beef lumpia was pretty tasty and he said the Mongolian beef was tasty but agreed with me about the sweet and sour. The portions are pretty big for a lunch special but it just wasn't good. The waitress never checked on us after dropping off our food which was unfortunate as we needed water.
The inside was nothing memorable either, they barely have any decorations or any attempt to give the restaurant an identity. They had a large flat screen TV playing views of different tropical islands but there was no music. After we got our food, the waitress turned on a very loud fan and I wasn't sure what that was all about. Overall, don't think we'll be back as the only thing really good was the soup and appetizers which should not be the case for...
Read moreI hate not giving 5 star review but I have to be honest to potential customers that would like to read honest opinion. I feel like I just got unlucky for ordering bland dishes, I bet their other dishes taste just fine, apparent to the other positive reviews. So I ordered phad see ew, honey walnut shrimp, and fresh roll salad. The phad see ew lacks flavor. I know because I've eaten top notch phad see ew elsewhere and I can also make a dank one from home. The quantity of the honey walnut shrimp was definitely not worth the price, it's definitely shy compared to other restaurants. Most honey walnut are tasty from its saucy exterior to the core. But theirs was so bland, and once you start chewing the shrimp, and the coat dispersed into your mouth- all that's left is a plane Jane shrimp. This is me criticizing, but each people have different standard and can be happy with an average honey walnut shrimp. The shrimp from the fresh roll was poking out off the thin wrap, and the entire roll itself tasted like the hands of the one who rolled it. I also make an exceptional fresh roll from home so I know what is good or not. Forgive me if I have to be truthful about my experience. But maybe some of their dishes are really good. It's unfair to give 1 star because I haven't tried their other dishes. But based on my experience, I will never come back here again. They seem like they rushed my order and the quality and taste is not...
Read moreWe wanted to try this place for a long time and finally did. We used to come here many many years ago but I think it changed either management or menu or both. They had several GF items including hot and sour soup, back then. Next time I called a few years later and was told they didn't offer ANY gluten free options. Totally disappointed. Now I see on the menu that they do offer some GF options. We've ordered twice and got Singapore Noodles that were shown as GF on the menu. It was delicious. Lots of fresh veggies with bbq pork, chicken and shrimps. A bit better the 2nd time we ordered as there as a bit more shrimp and bbq pork included. The Chicken Satay was okay. Seasoned well but a bit dry and overcooked. It came with a tasty but very thick peanut sauce, gravy like texture. The portions are pretty good for the price, for what we've tried so far. I would recommend trying Fortune Noodle House as their menu is quite large and varied especially if you don't have dietary concerns. They do have a menu with both vegetarian and GF options as well as other allergies. About 6 or so dishes to...
