If you see this ice cream place in the little corner of Reston Town Center, make sure you stop by!
It's probably my favorite ice cream in DMV. The flavors are unique. Mango sticky rice, passion fruit guava, strawberry matcha, come on! I tried most flavors and liked almost all of them. I settled on strawberry matcha because I love both of those. The taste is very light, unlike traditional American ice creams. Think maybe 40% sugar, more fruity with the right amount of milk. It wasn't too heavy but refreshing.
I have never seen the tiny cones here in any other place. I personally love them because the usual giant cones drip ice cream all over me before I can finish them. The ice cream melting and the cone size ratio are perfect with this one. Only one guy was running the show, but he was very patient and let 4 of us test all the flavors we wanted to try. If you got in at the wrong time, that means a long line.
Any complaints? The price. It's $6.95 for a tiny scoop (maybe 60% of what we're used to). Will it prevent me from coming back? NOPE. The flavors are too good. The price justifies it. I WILL BE...
Read moreI’m a decade long fan of ICJ and love seeing them expand in VA. I went to this location today hoping for my old staples and was mildly disappointed. I had the blueberry crisp today which did scratch my itch for the old blueberry pie flavor they used to have - very, very good. That said, I was pretty bummed after ordering the fresh minty chip to see the recipe is totally different; ICJ used to have the BEST mint ice cream, really tasted like real mint, but now it’s just like every other mint flavor out there that tastes too strong and fake. Such a bummer because that one really set ICJ apart! Overall ice cream is still great, but don’t love all of the formula changes from the original star flavors (like Marionberry, too - bring back the graham crackers!). Additionally, the prices are insane - $24 after tax for two cones. Not sure I can make ICJ even slightly regular now with those prices. Again, overall great ice cream still, but a couple drawbacks now that might make me...
Read moreI tried chocolate peanut butter with a brownie and hot fudge . 1/5 poor ice cream, poor toppings, better options like Ben & Jerry and Pitango ( in RTC)
This is strictly a product review I don’t care about ambiance or service . The “hot fudge” is not hot, it is more like a splash of cheap chocolate syrup (like Hershey chocolate syrup) .
The chocolate peanut butter tasted very water down. For two very bold flavors, I didn’t taste much chocolate or much peanut butter.
The brownie was a bit stale and didn’t taste good. They can warm it up ,top it with syrup , etc . In its current state it doesn’t taste like much .
For $11 you can get much better ice cream . Go to Ben & Jerry for bolder, creamier , richer flavors. Ben & Jerry also has better sundae toppings.
Go to Pitango for lighter sorbets, tasty fruit flavors ( like blackberry , mango , kiwi) and decent espresso.
If you want to go further than RTC (ice cream lovers ) go to jenis (Tyson’s ). Very rich flavors , and tasty...
