I dined this evening with my brother and sadly we had an extremely disappointing experience. As frequent customers and local foodies, we are shocked to receive such poor customer service. Unfortunately, we were treated so poor that we will not be back. We arrived at the host/hostess stand around 9:50 pm. The young man with dark hair, “greeted” my brother by rudely asking “what do you want?”. (What?!, we are standing at the entrance where it says wait to be seated, what else would we be in here for?) When my brother said we would like to be seated for 2, the boy dismissed us with a hand gesture and said “she will be with you”- without even looking at us. Unacceptable, JINYA. There was no other person at the front… The young African American girl then walks up and asks “if we mind sitting at the bar”. We said no, we prefer not to sit at the bar. There were only 4 other parties dining (not busy) and no one at the bar… She proceeds to seat us at a table in front of the restaurant. We asked to sit at a booth that was diagonal to the table, directly by the window. All the other patrons on this side were sitting at a both along the window. She said “they are closed off”. We said, “the both that’s directly behind the other customers? Everyone is sitting on this side?” Then she says “they’re cleaned so they are closed”. We dropped it but this is not acceptable. Whether we ate at the table or the both across, they have to be cleaned regardless. This is a poor excuse. Why make it purposely uncomfortable for the guests? Again, unacceptable behavior by your host and hostess. After sitting down, I was ready to leave but my brother wanted to stick it out because we always had a good experience in the past. Immediately sitting down, I notice the sauce dishes are dirty. Even though we did not use them, it is flat out disgusting and a health violation. By this time, it was shortly after 10 pm and the waitress took our order. Very shortly (only minutes later) our food was ready and the waitress told us to “stir our ramen from the bottom up”. As stated before, we are local foodies that travel and have been fortunate to dine at authentic ramen shops. Never have we been told to stir our ramen bottom up… At no surprise, we quickly realized she told us to stir because the food was cold! Additionally, my brothers ramen was missing toppings. At this point, 10:20pm, we decided we were ready to just leave. Not once did the waitress refill our drinks or check on us. We are both easy going & had we been (at least) decently greeted from the beginning, this wouldn’t bother us. I want to make note of this in my review because this may be an issue for other customers as this is one of the basic level job descriptions for a server.. My brother had to waive her down to get the check. As we left, the cherry of this rotting, spoiled sundae was as we were leaving the young host boy was sitting at the high top table scrolling on his phone and gossiping with the hostess while she was blocking the whole exit/ entrance sweeping the floor. Instead of a normal human response of stopping or stepping out of the way so guests can leave, she does not stop and sweeps dirt at our shoes while we try to walk around her to leave. Absolutely, unacceptable. I recommend the manger to properly educate your staff, particularly the front staff, of basic human mannerisms. These people are the face of your restaurant. It is unfortunate to lose regulars because of laziness & disrespect to customers by two low performing employees. As a human, I fully understand that the front staff clearly did not want to be there but bottom line, we arrived over an hour before JINYA closed. We were in and out before any of the prior guests left. How dare your staff make paying customers...

If you’re craving rich, slow-simmered ramen with modern vibes, JINYA delivers. The broths are deeply flavorful, noodles perfect, and the atmosphere casual. Service can be inconsistent, but strong management often steps up when things go wrong. Best bet: dine in, avoid peak hours, and enjoy some of the best ramen around.
Atmosphere Step inside and the vibe is urban and energetic: brick walls, tall glass windows, wood accents, and a central bar buzzing with energy. Seating ranges from communal high-tops to booths. It can get loud at dinner, so early afternoons are best for quieter meals.
Food & Menu The foundation here is the broth, simmered 18–20 hours in-house using Fuji water. Whether it’s the fiery spicy tonkotsu with a glossy chili sheen or the delicate chicken wonton ramen, each bowl feels crafted with care. Noodles, aged offsite for consistency, have the right chew. Toppings arrive fresh and balanced, though extras can quickly add cost.
Spicy Chicken Ramen: Bold, layered broth with heat that builds. Thin noodles, chicken chashu, spinach, bean sprouts, and green onion. Spice levels range from mild to hot.
Chicken Wonton Ramen: Comforting broth with wontons, spinach, and green onion. Generous noodles make it hearty.
Miso Glazed Eggplant ($11): Fried eggplant, brussels sprouts, and red pepper in spicy miso, garnished with bok choy and bonito flakes. The bonito—skipjack tuna that’s smoked, dried, fermented, and shaved into delicate flakes—adds smoky depth. I enjoyed it; my wife did not.
Pork Gyoza: Handmade in-house, crisp and flavorful.
Service & Experience Service here can swing widely. My son’s family (having had 20+ visits) chose JINYA for a birthday dinner with nine guests. That night tested patience: 45-minute waits, cold food, and even a gluten-free misstep. The host dismissed concerns with “We are busy tonight,” and it was shaping up as a two-star evening.
Then came Rebecca, the manager. She listened, apologized without excuses, explained how they’d fix things, and insisted on making it right. Her professionalism salvaged the evening—and kept us coming back. In fact, we’ve returned six times in six weeks and plan to bring more family soon. That’s JINYA in a nutshell: when service clicks, the experience is stellar; when it slips, it takes strong management to recover.
Community Buzz JINYA Reston earns glowing praise: 4.9 stars on Google with 8,700+ reviews. Guests rave about broth depth, fresh ingredients, and lively staff. Complaints cluster around delivery issues (cold or soggy, often beyond their control), service...

I was very excited to come to the Reston location after trying their other location in Mosaic district, Fairfax. The restaurant is at the heart of Reston , at RTC. I was welcomed by a host, and taken promptly to my table. The interior is so beautiful and seats are spaced well. Sitting down, I was told to scan the QR code on the table to view the menu. Surprisingly, there were lots of vegan options too.
Edamame : My all time favorite snack. Quite tasty and goes well with Japanese beer.
Caramelized cauliflower : Caramelized to perfection with garlic and roasted pine nuts, with some lemon sprinkled on top. Not too oily, tasted really amazing.
Vegan Bun : When I ordered this, the manger was so happy as usually people don't prefer this over the usual pork bun. The bun has a "vegan meat" , mayonnaise and guacamole. The guacamole gives a rich and flavorful taste to the bun.
Crispy chicken : I'm not a crispy chicken fan, but thought of trying it. The chicken was perfectly done, not too thick , not too oily and greasy. We savored every bite.
For the main course, we had the "Spicy Chicken Ramen" . Our ramen came out very quickly with an egg added. The ramen was just WOW. These noodles were perfectly cooked. The broth preparation is in house which takes around 9-10hrs. Plus the water used goes through a filtration process. When the manager told me this, I was all the way more in love with the food served here. I just wanted to eat more __
No meal is complete without a dessert, they had two options - Panna cotta and mochi ice cream. We had the mochi ice cream - both chocolate and matcha. Out of the two, chocolate was the best. It simply melts in your mouth.
The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The restaurant follows all the COVID -19 precautions. Overall it was 10/10 experience . To all the vegetarian folks, don't hesitate to give this place a try. They have options in the appetizers and mains. Trust me, you...
