My wife and I have been visiting Illinois wineries (157 in all) since 2008. Usually, when we leave a place, the first question we ask in the car is "Would we come back to this winery?" Leaving Ventrendi, the first question was "When will we come back?" (They're almost 3 hours from our home.) We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and were the only customers for a late lunch and wine tasting. Don took great care of us as we split a Margritia Flatbread with water for lunch and then did two tastings (we shared each one, so we both got to taste all the wines). The mini-charcuterie board was a great touch for the tasting. While we missed our favorite "Illinois" grapes, we recognize that a place as busy as Ventrendi appears to be needs to use more familiar grapes. And they REALLY deliver. We always buy a bottle of wine from each winery we visit, and rarely two bottles . . . we left Ventrendi with three. Again, Don provided GREAT personalized service for us, but we really wish we'd met Rick (the winemaker) . . . it's clear he has an exceptional palette. His Shiraz more than stands up to the best Southern Illinois Chambourcin wines, and his Reisling is phenomenal. They are on our short list of...
Read moreMy friend and I went on a Sat evening. There was a DJ. It's a nice space for a date or perhaps even rent for a gathering. I do recommend making reservations. The young lady at the front greeted us and informed us how to order because there's not specific waiters for tables. We sat at the bar. There are no hooks under the bar to hold purses. The bar is very high or the seats are just not tall enough for the bar. It's just not a great place to sit if you are short. There were people working behind the bar preparing drinks etc but no one acknowledged us until we got one of their attention to ask questions and they were very welcoming with convo once you spoke. You order food and drinks through a QR code and it's brought out to you. So that's where some of the disconnect comes in. The wine selections were delicious especially the slushie. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the bites. I ordered the guacamole, store purchased, so it lacked flavor. The turkey pepperoni flat bread was a waste of money as well. It was just not appetizing. Overall, I recommend for...
Read moreIf you need a place to hang out with friends other than your house, try Vintrendi Wine Company for your entertainment needs. There is a fee if you bring food. Of course, my crew is extra, and my sister made personalized charcuterie boards and individual pasta salads. We also supported All-Out Smoke Pit. You have to try the smoked wings. The venue supplied plates and silverware. We learned the slushy cocktails were unavailable, so we enjoyed Blanc de Blanc.
We arrived around 1:00PM and hung out for three hours. Donovan was attentive and provided service with a smile. I highly recommend this event space for your next celebration. There is an 18% minimum service gratuity applied to the bill. We were impressed with the customer service and included an...
