Kingsberry Waffle House — Restaurant in Rich Township

I gave only one star because it was the only way to submit my review. If I could I would have given less. With that said let's get started.

The food is pretty good and reasonably priced however I won't do business with this establisment. The main reason is very simple. The person who runs this location is very rude to his employees especially the servers whom make very little income being they rely mostly on their tips because they are paid as little as $4.95/hr. I have ate there maybe about 3-4 times and have witnessed a few, in my opinion, very unprofessional outbursts from the manager directed at the staff. I've heard other similar horror stories from other acquaintances/coworkers that have dined there too and have witnessed the same encounters...SMH. Recently I've heard that one of the servers was threatened with violence and verbal threats and then only to be sent home packing. The reason...she was heard explaining to the manager that a customer was asking for, something as simple as, ketchup and that there was none available. According to witnesses she was loudly told to just shut-up about it and the manager made a motion with his hand as if to threaten to strike her if she did not comply...wow! So...for me, based on my own encounters and the credible stories brought to my attention...not the kind of people I like to do biz with and if you have a Mom, daughter, sister or anybody in the food industry or any industry for that matter that treats their employees like they are some sort of tyrant then I suggest you shouldn't either. But hey that's just me and my opinion :-) If you like okay food served at a reasonable price that you can get at just about any other breakfast/lunch place and you are not bothered by how others are treated then this place may work for you...to each their own I guess. Do unto...

My family and friends made arrangements with the restaurant to have small celebration of life for our loved one, my father,who passed. The man who I assume is the owner/manager seem to be very accommodating with table arranging to seat our 35 paying guest. Well, we were paying the over 300 dollar check with tge manager when he looks at me and says do you have enough case to pay this bill? I looked at him and said yes I have money. I found it to be more of a color issue at this point. I say this because, my family and I are all professional business people that have money. We were all dressed very nice so there was no reason for him to look at our attair and assume we had no money. To make matters even more racial, he told us 3 times to make sure we give the waitress a tip. On the 3rd time my cousin told him you are very rude. We do not need you to keep reminding us to leave a tip. I went on to inform him that we are not ignorant people who do not know better. He says well she ,the waittress worked hard so I wanna make sure she gets a tip. It is a shame that his behavior is what will keep me from not returning to this restaurant. My cousin assured me the lady,his wife is much nicer. That does not matter because he is also a face of Kingsberry and he does not need my monetary contributions. I say this to him, Mr. Manager, you need to take a class that teaches you that African Americans work hard too and we have money as well as any other race. I will pray for you because in reality you are the one that is ignorant with you...

Currently here and I’m upset. I have never been rushed by a server like this. Brought my daughter for breakfast and had told her how much I love coming here. The server came to the table and asked us if we were ready to order after complaining that we had been sat in her section. Then some of her regulars came in and she was happy with them being sat. The waitress sat a pitcher of water in our table even though we hadn’t decided on drinks and walked off. Then she brought us our food and 4 minutes into eating she swiftly came by and dropped the check. She didn’t ask us if we were done or needed anything just walked by and sat it on the table as we were taking bites. I’m sorry but that was really rude then she never came back to check and see if we needed a to go container or anything. That’s crazy. And when I did ask for a to go container, when she finally was by us she had a bad attitude like I was bothering her. That’s horrible. She shouldn’t be a server if she doesn’t want to treat all customers with respect.

And no she did not get a tip. Poor service, bad attitude on top of rudeness does...
