I would like to give ZERO STARS. My family and I have used Gold Star 3 times for appliances in DFW. During this kitchen remodel, I visited several times to determine what I needed and having great success with GE products, I wanted to determine if moving from Profile to Cafe was worth it, so visited several times (4) over a one month period.
It is good to note, I also visited NFM, Home Depot and Elite appliances too.
I chose a GE cafe range and the new GE cafe refrigerator ($8 thousand dollars for both). I had to make multiple (over 10) calls to confirm when/where they were being delivered. When working on a 3-4 month renovations, you have to schedule and coordinate lots and lots of contracts and subcontracts. But having to chase down your orders from a company who has been in business for years, was frustrating and to make matters worse, I took the day off to ensure the range got installed after the flooring. They never showed up. I called multiple times. Frustrating.
Knowing of this frustration, I called 2 times (Monday & Tuesday) to confirm and re-confirm my delivery window for Wednesday. I was told between 11-12:30. Strange. I repeat it and she confirmed. 12:21pm, I called to re-confirm as I was told I would get a 30 minute call as they were on their way. Nothing!!! I called again at 1:05pm. I was told it took 30 minutes longer at their first appointment, so they are running 30 minutes behind schedule. I informed them they are already 30 minutes later than my late window time given 😡. 2pm, I called again. Was put on hold. Was told manager would call me within 10 minutes. 2:35pm, I called again 🤬 and was again promised someone would call me back as they were unable to get a hold of the delivery person. I got a call back (small victory) and was now told my delivery window was 3pm-4pm. So incredibly disappointing and disrespectful. Took my $8K and could care less of if or when I would get my appliances. Disappointed as I love to support small companies vs large ones, but having to now miss 2 days of work and do all the calling and following up is completely unacceptable....
Read moreThis week I went in to buy a new washer and had a decent enough buying experience. I paid and scheduled delivery/install for a few days later 9am-12pm. I made sure to explicitly instruct the salesman that the machine needed to go into an upper apartment of a house, and I was told that the delivery people would call me 30min before arrival. I got a phone call after leaving the store with the rep saying that they forgot to charge me for delivery. I figured it was just a small hiccup, so I returned and paid the delivery fee. No problems.
I took half a day off of work on the scheduled delivery/install day so I could be home at the time of delivery. All three hours roll past, with no phone call and no delivery made. I call the sales rep on my way to work, and apparently there was some miscommunication between him and the delivery people, and that the washing machine would be delivered that afternoon. Again, I was told I'd receive a call 30min before delivery. Luckily, my roommate would be home in time for delivery and install.
A few hours later, I get a text from my roommate asking if I knew only one delivery person would show up. Apparently not only did Gold Star fail to communicate the correct scheduled delivery time, but they failed to call me 30min before delivery, and also apparently ignored my explicit warning that the delivery needed to be made to an upstairs location. So in the end, I paid a $40 delivery fee to have my roommate do half of the delivery and instillation work.
I decided to buy from Gold Star due to their generally positive reviews and a desire to support a local business. I'll admit, this was a mistake. I lost out on half a day's pay due to the delivery miscommunication, and paid a delivery/installation fee only to find out my roommate had to do half the delivery/installation work himself.
I wish my experience with Gold Star had gone better, but due to poor service and logistical ineptitude, I will not shop here again - nor can I in good conscience recommend this place to anyone else. You'll be better off with a place like Home Depot, Lowe's,...

Eldridge and his installer Kevin Smith once again exceeded my expectations. My parents cooktop was perfect and reasonably priced. Thank you Eldridge and Kevin on your continued excellent service!
7/2016: Several years ago we did a remodel and found Goldstar to be the best combination of value and customer service for our appliances and lighting. Last year when it was time to replace our washer and dryer we purchased a Maytag washer and dryer set from them. During the installation there was a scratch on one of them. The Manager at the time was helpful but it didn't get completely resolved because I think that he left there during the process. When I followed up with it again sometime later, Eldridge stepped in and took care of us to our complete satisfaction. This is a wonderful place to do business with and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for great value and customer service when buying appliances or lighting. ...
