I just watched Mary Poppins at the Richmond Civic Theatre with my two boys (ages 9 and 10) and we loved it! From the moment we were greeted at the door by a chimney sweep, to the time we spent with the cast after the show, all the members of RCT were pleasant and professional providing an experience both fun and memorable.
The cast was amazing, especially Mary Poppins played by the beautiful and talented veteran of the RCT stage, Shanna Camacho. Her beaming smile and angelic voice transports theatre goers to another realm where the magic of Mary Poppins seems not only believable but real. Dustin Summan also does great service in Dick Van Dyke's most memorable role as Bert the lovable Cockney chimney sweep. Other fine performances were acted by Wayne Greeson as George Banks, Robin Zitnick as Winifred Banks, and Molly and Fred Mendenhall punching well above their weight as Jane and Michael banks.

The theatre is in an historic building that is well-maintained and clean, including the restrooms. I loved all the Halloween decorations in the lobby! This particular show was family-friendly and several children were in the audience, including my daughter. Ticket prices were very reasonable, $13 per person.
