Great theater! Really liked the fully electric recliners. They were super comfortable. It also has better food and beverage options than a normal theater but wouldn’t consider this as good as restaurant. Gives more of a beach bar/grill vibe to the food options.
Would be 5 stars but the way you place food orders and get beverages was very disappointing. I was expecting this theater to be more like other dine in theaters I’ve experienced. When I went to the movie theater I was expecting to be able to order food and drinks from my seat, but unfortunately you have to order from the bar. Also, I went to get a Diet Coke from the concession stand and wanted to order some food, but I was told I had to pay for my drink then go over to the bar to order my food. Just to be clear there were lots of people drinking at the bar thus making me late for my movie because I was waiting for people to get their drinks just so I could order food.
Also want to clarify as of writing this, if you order at night they will bring the food to your seats which I was lucky enough to experience, but as others have told me if you order before a certain time they give you a buzzer and make you come get your food like the other Malco theater in Madison does.
Hopefully they will be improving the process so that you can order directly from your phone and have it brought to your seats. Or even preordering before you go would be fine with me as long as I didn’t have to get the attention of a bartender to order my food.
One more thing they also don’t get refills for you or allow you to order additional items when your food finally arrives. Personally I can’t imagine too many people in the middle of a movie finishing a beer and wanting another are going to wait in line to order another while missing a good portion of their movie. Same thing goes for deserts and other food. On the bright side the soft drinks are self service!
Overall good experience especially if you aren’t getting food. I’m just hoping the process improves drastically or they will see a significant loss in potential purchases by people...
Read moreWent to the new Malco Renaissance Cinema tonight. We got there 20minutes before the movie, and only half of the theater was taken up, thank goodness! We sat 4th row from the front, and with the screen not being ginormous, it was the perfect distance from the screen. Seats reclined and were very comfy, I haven't seen D-box here, but maybe it's offered in the other theater rooms. Regular tickets are $12+ tax, I thought they'd be higher.
If you want to order anything other than the usual concession stand snacks, you have to order from the bar. The bar food was cheaper than the popcorn and drink, so it's definitely not theater prices, which is awesome! Since food was so cheap, we ordered 3 meals, and our usual large popcorn and drinks lol
If you order before 6pm, they give you a buzzer to pick up your food. After 6pm they have people that can deliver the food to your seats, up to 20 minutes after the movie starts. If it's 20mins into the movie time, you have to pick it up. Our food got to our seats 15 minutes after we ordered. Every meal comes with a tray that attaches to your seat, now don't be like us and order so much food for two people, we had no where to put it.
I've always loved Malcos popcorn, the self served butter station, so you can put as much butter as you like, and their butter is good lol. I also like theaters that has the self-serve soda station, because I HATE having to rush out in the middle of my movie to refill my soda before they close at night.
We ordered fish and chips, cheeseburger, grilled chicken panini, large popcorn, and large drink. I read that folks were disappointed in the food because they were expecting "luxury". C'mon now, not once did I read that they were serving gourmet type foods, luxury lounging means nice reclining, more comfortable seats for your movie experience. It's just regular food you'd get at a fast casual place like shake shack.
I thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would definitely be back. The menu were slightly different than the menu I saw on their website earlier, so I've attached...
Read moreThe movie theater seats are nice and comfy—no issue there. Just don’t make the mistake of ordering the personal pan pizza, or anything that requires heating up. First, it took more than 10 minutes to prepare the little pizza, and since I ordered 10-12 minutes before the film started (surely that’s enough time, right?), I had to leave the theater and grab the pizza at the start of the film. What’s funny is that’s not the most annoying part about this. The most annoying part is when I saw and tasted the little pizza, it was absolutely disgusting. If I’m going to miss 2-3 minutes of a film for a food item, the least you can do is make it worth the wait and the missed time watching the film. The cheese on the pizza was the consistency of slime, and that’s no exaggeration. To make matters worse, there was more cheese piled onto the dough than anything else. After I literally wiped the slimy cheese off of the pizza, the dough was the consistency of a Ritz cracker. I’ve had better personal pan pizzas at a gas station. If you come to this theater, skip the food and just enjoy the...
