Hunt Park — Attraction in Riverside

This park used to be great. My kids grew up and took many lessons. Im sure they still provide that. But over the yrs even tho city put lot of money for beautification. Some rude people still have to ruin it. I wouldnt go there in dark. Bunch of teens good one just hanging out. But not so good ones causing problems. I heard few times gun shoots and kids running into all directions. By the time police get there. Everyone is gone. Waste of police time. I suggest to the city. To save your multi million dollar investment. Pls install some hidden cameras and dont ecen tell the staff working there. Its a public place and we need public safety. Now anyone thinks its called invasion of privacy issue. Hold ur breath folks. Wen u r in public there 's no invasion of privacy. The complainers like this should stay home rather than make the community more safe. I see homeless people have taken over there over the yrs. U kn city. Let them sleep there. Make them responsible to maintain the peace in park. Only one bad guy can handle another bad ass. Therefore, city should do this exchange or trade with homeless people. U sleep in park n u keep park clean of problems n drugs. Nice trade off. Plus everything on cameras. In that whole area, which is pretty big. My understanding is there r only 3 police officers r assigned. Due to scheduling and over time pay issue. No police coverage. Sometimes only one officer covering the whole area. I like to question the local govt. Where is our tax dollars going? We need more officers good ones. I love city of riverside. It has grown quite a bit. But at same time going down the drain too. Mr. Mayor where r u. Whats going on in the city? Can u pls get out of ur office and really take a walk on the city roads just like u did to get votes. Remember that. Pls walking is healthy 4 u. If you know hunt then you know that you dont really go to the skatepark at night or weekends when they close late, often times there's just a weird crowd that a lot of people try to avoid. Other than that the skatepark is pretty nice, the transitions are smooth and the coping isn't all messed up like some others I've seen. It doesn't get "as" hot as some other skateparks because the floor isn't dark and there's some shade sometimes along with a breeze.

The rest of the park is very refreshing to walk around, the pool is kind of a hastle to try to swim in because they open such weird hours for the summer and randomly cancel days. The community center has so many options for the youth and also offers a lot of programs.

Only other thing i would mention is to watch where you park, although most the time there aren't people with ill intentions, I have seen someone realize their catalytic converter was stolen in the parking lot in broad daylight while they were...

We live close so we come here every so often. The gazebo has been fenced off and I think they are taking it out which has helped with the homeless issue at the park... it hasn't completely solved the problem but its a good start.

The skate park is always busy but of course with the new laws with Marijuana in California there's often an all too familiar smell around the area anymore which kind of sucks. No issue with everyone else's choice here but my kids are little and they are playing at a park... they shouldn't be subjected to that... at a park!
