I moved in right down the street last year, so this Staters is literally a two minute walk. The first time I went there the cashier was less than enthusiastic and the girl bagging groceries was more interested in talking to the girl at the next register about where they're going out to later that night. No "hello" or "thank you" from either of them. I figure okay we all have those kind of days, no biggie.
I go again the next week. Crowded. I'm in line and both registers are either side are closed. Finally another cashier comes up and opens a register, but she doesn't take anyone from our line like how they normally will tap the next person in line and say " I'll help you here on #5". Well that didn't happen. She just went behind the register and turned the light on. Before I could scramble over there, at least four others came out of (seemingly) nowhere and got there first. When I finally got up to my checkout, the little machine that you slide your card broke down, so after a minute or two they had to close the line. Other people behind me were shuffled off to other lines, meanwhile they take a full six minutes trying to fix the machine before they tell me I HAVE TO PUT MY THINGS BACK IN MY CART AND GO TO THE END OF ANOTHER LINE BECAUSE NO OTHER CASHIERS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE MOMENT. UM, NO I DONT THINK SO. IM STARTING TO GET IRRITATED AT THIS POINT. Suddenly the store manager comes over, taps on the register a few times, and says follow me. We walk over to the empty register next to us. He does a lot of tapping, then tells me to slide my card. Yay!! I paid. I grab my cart, (no offer for help outside of course), and leave. I didn't care for that bad customer service at all, so I didn't go back there for at least ten months.
Last week I needed something quickly, so I figured I'd go there and give them another try. This time the produce manager was the cashier and wow he was rude! I had my own bag which I was going to hand to the person bagging my things, and the produce mgr just snarled at me "I'll take it" and he threw it down on the conveyor belt. I was taken aback by this, I glanced at the person behind me in line and they had a stunned look on their face, too. Again, no hello or thank you from any of the employees. But I smile and say thank you regardless.
Absolutely the worst store I've encountered for customer service. I will never step back in this or any Stater...
Read moreI hate to pull the race card but this store has a huge problem with profiling like pretending to stock items or just tapping on them. While some are genuinely stocking, others are pretending to. I have been followed once here before. I work as a CNA, while in school to become an RN, so I work for doordash to make extra money. I was a bit lost in the store even after asking for help so I noticed profiling occuring to do it. I did not want to bother anyone so I proceeded to look for most items myself.
I called the manager and he claimed they do not do that but I know for a fact that is not true and I even informed him I've been profiled there before (in SCRUBS as I'm a healthcare worker). He ignored that, made excuses for the recent incident instead of checking the footage or investigating like other managers I have spoken to in the past. He just said he has to hurry up and go and rushed me off of the phone. They try not to make it obvious but they do that here. I have been profiled over 40+ times, weekly. Respectfully I am sick of it so I'm hyperaware.
Literally after this incident, I go to Walgreens late at night and I am followed by a manager who tried not to make it obvious, but like I mentioned I always know. I confronted him, and he literally admits he followed me because he did not know me which makes absolutely ZERO sense. So I am hyper aware of everything and I'm naturally observant due to my personality and being in healthcare.
When I visit LA or even the OC I am NEVER profiled. This is the 2nd time I go to this location and both times I'm viewed as suspicious by employees despite not having a history of theft.
If I have another issue (3rd time) I will have no choice but to escalate it to corporate because the older male manager does not care nor was he empathetic. Usually managers act like that because they encourage...
Read moreNormally I'm a staters shopper and this, like all the other stores are pretty much alike. Today however was not a good day. Why in the world would you put Pepsi and 7up products up against each other, with signs on both that read get for $2.99 when you buy four. You really have to pay attention that one sign says Pepsi the other 7up. I think it's on purpose so people do what I did. Grab 2 Pepsi and 2 7up not even realizing it and then end up paying $4.99 for each. I got home only to realize I had been charged too much, went back and talked to the cashier who rang me up, and was told it was because I didn't get 4 from the same brand, kind of rudely. I asked for a manager and talk to her who looked like she didn't want to deal with me, agreed with me about the signs and the fact that both brands are stacked together, then gave me a refund for the difference without telling me what she was even doing. All in all no one was very professional, but I did get refunded even though I was willing to bring two of the four back in to exchange if I needed to. I'm going to chalk it up to a busy day not long before Christmas, and not just general bad moods or attitude. Stater bros is normally a good...
