Whomever is managing this store and setting the prices have really lost the plot here. Don't for one minute think that just because there is charity involved that greed is an impossibility. In fact, it makes it more apparent. For what this store is, the prices are quite outrageous. There are some decent deals, but they are few and far between anymore. I have stopped going but used to go about once a week to see if I could find any deals. Hardly the case anymore. This is somewhat evident in the fact that their shelves are consistently overflowing.
I am always mindful of waste and would like to reuse wherever I can; however, this store makes it incredibly difficult to do. I needed some electrical boxes not to long ago. Not super expensive even new, but when I looked here and compared the same exact style electrical box with brand new, the price was only 20 cent cheaper here! Really? Idiotic. I just left and purchased them at Angle to support that small business. I'd rather spend more than big box prices to support local business than get overcharged for used items at this store.
One last thing that really shows that they have forgotten what the purpose of this place is. Last year, I bought a kitchen table from there. It wasn't in immaculate condition, but good enough for the price. Well, a few weeks later we decided that we wanted a different style of table. We were in the process of moving, so I didn't feel like attempting to sell it. I figured I can just donate it back to Habitat. No big deal. They wouldn't take it back! The condition had not changed one bit in 2 weeks. So, it was good enough to sell to me, but not good enough for me to donate back to them. Unless something changes, I feel this location will be...
Read moreThis store is very high priced. They will hold on to an item and never change the price. Two months ago, I seen an outdoor chair there for 50.00. I thought the price was high for the item. Two months later, the chair was still there. I figured that after the chair had been there for two months that maybe they would take something off for it. I asked the manager if he would take off 10.00 since it has been there for a few months, He said “no”. His response surprised me. He wasn’t interested in making a sale. The Habitat Restore store is there to make money to help people out. I have been in other Habitat Restore stores that after a period of time they will lower the price on items. The manager at this location needs to realize that when he turns down a sale, he is not making money for the Habitat for Humanity Foundation. It makes me wonder what this manager is really doing with the money he takes in from ALL of the donations. In closing, if it wasn’t for donations , there wouldn’t be a Habitat for...
Read morePeople who work/volunteer here are really great, but the majority of items are overpriced. While some vintage/mid-century furniture may be in style, bulky end/coffee tables from the 80's and 90's, aren't. And rummaging through their used doors on the small chance you'll find the right size and style, for instance, isn't worth what relatively little you save at this location. There are so many items that have been here for years that it makes it difficult to notice recent arrivals. Marking down the dated stuff that hasn't sold would make new arrivals stand out. Even resale shops can and do freshen up their inventory by moving old stuff out...
