My mom asked me to help her write this post for her.
"I recently purchased a bracelet from Board of Trade and was extremely disappointed with both the product and the customer service I received. I spent a significant amount of money, $500 to be exact, on what I thought was a high-quality piece of jewelry. However, my excitement quickly turned to frustration when the bracelet fell off my arm the first time I wore it.
Concerned about the faulty clasp, I reached out to the store to address the issue. After explaining my experience, I even went the extra mile by leaving the bracelet with them for a day, urging them to wear it themselves to see the problem firsthand. Their response was disheartening - they claimed to have no issues with the bracelet.
Feeling dismissed and disregarded, I took matters into my own hands and sought a second opinion from my trusted jeweler. They confirmed there was indeed an issue with the clasp. Not only did I have to deal with the inconvenience of a defective product, but I also had to pay out of pocket to have the clasp secured.
What disappoints me the most is that this is a store I have been loyal to for years, having spent thousands of dollars there. However, it seems that under new management, the level of care and consideration for customers has severely declined.
As a result of this experience, I have lost trust and confidence in Board of Trade It's a shame that they chose to prioritize short-term profits over long-term customer satisfaction. Needless to say, they have lost a customer for good. I would have preferred genuine care and attention to my concerns rather than feeling insulted and disregarded.
Overall, I cannot recommend Board of Trade based on my recent experience. Be cautious when making purchases here, as you may not receive the quality or service you expect, especially if issues...
Read moreMy mother in law purchased a piece of furniture for my wife and I from the Board of Trade and the experience wasn't so great. I came to pick up the china cabinet and it was clearly broken. The door wouldn't open which means it isn't usable. at that point my mother in law asked me to decline pickup and ask the owner for a refund. When I told the owner she got upset and tried to insist I take the broken cabinet anyways. I nicely declined again and repeated that the purchaser wanted her money back and left. The owner offered to fix the issue but my mother in law just wanted her money back.
What happened next shocked me.
The owner of this business immediately called my mother in law and lied about our interaction. She claimed I had spoken to her so abusively that she was shaking. She said I had treated her worse than anybody had spoken to her before in her entire life... Of course this was simply a manipulation and she continued to pressure my mother in law into buying her broken furniture. After all this trouble the crisis was solved and the money was refunded but I've never dealt with such a dishonest, lying, manipulative business person before. Let alone one who would call and have the guts to slander somebody to thier own family member to sell the con. To top it off the item was in bad shape and rigged together in general and I feel as though even if the cabinet door hadn't been broken the price was still an outright rip off.
Avoid this place. They have no respect for customers and will steep to a very low level for the sale. Don't be the...
Read moreThe most disappointing consignment experience I’ve ever had.
I consigned two decorative doors with this store back in January and recently stopped by to check on their status. I was told the items had sold at full price—but I had never received any notification or payment.
When I mentioned this, the staff told me my contract had expired on May 28th, and since the items sold after that date (in June), I was no longer entitled to any proceeds. They claimed the doors became store property the moment the contract ended.
I was stunned—not only by this policy, but by how casually it was communicated. When I spoke to the manager, I was met with indifference. She seemed genuinely surprised that I was upset, offered no resolution, and simply reiterated that there was "nothing they could do."
This experience felt both dismissive and unfair. I would strongly urge anyone considering consigning with this business to read the fine print carefully—or better yet, consider another shop that values transparency and...
