Read moreDisappointed by Staff Behavior and denied entry
We had an absolutely frustrating and ridiculous experience at Lake Hopatcong park. Despite arriving during posted operating hours, we were not allowed to reenter by the staff at the gate. There was no clear explanation, and their attitude came across as unhelpful and dismissive.
We arrived at park very early with kids and friends , one of us stepped out for a medical emergency and on return we were denied entry in the park. We waited for 3:5 hours outside the park without food as, all our food and water was inside. On several requests no one responded hopefully, we were very rudely ignored we were told go grab some food from near by place. Almost 50/60 cars left the park but requesting several times to the park people was in vain. The lady on the phone, gentleman and lady at gate kept saying we don’t know when will it open, might not even open and kept talking amongst themselves. Staff is very very rudely and inconsiderate. They were not even allowing people ( who left to get ice) to pass ice to other family members inside. Seen so many national parks, have respected all rules but this rudeness was different.
If there were special circumstances (like maintenance, capacity limits, or private events), none were communicated in advance on the website. Good customer service requires clear communication and respectful treatment—neither of which we received. Wasted our time, energy and gas visiting this park. Place we would never visit again.
We hope the management takes this feedback seriously and ensures better training and communication among the staff moving forward. Visitors deserve to be treated with courtesy and given clear, accurate...
