Ok, I LOVE that there's any dog park at all, but there's so much the city can do to make it more comfortable for dogs and humans. We've been going regularly with our rough collie, Sheamus. We've noticed that there is consistently LOTS of people there with their dogs. More people then any other park in a 20 mile radius of us. People like being able to take their dogs somewhere. Many other states have made more efforts to be pet friendly. It's a GOOD thing for all of us. Since this park is being used regularly by SO MANY in the community, I would love to see them put in some TREES for shade!!! Possibly some covered areas, more benches, and definitely WATER. Even if they needed to do a fund raiser, it would be wonderful if the city could do some major improvements to this park that so many want to enjoy.

This is great for dogs to socialize. The sad thing is that it is also a place for people to realize if their dog can't socialize with other dogs. The dogs run and play and chase each other. The Roy Dog Park is an old drainage retention pond , so if there is any moisture, it will be a muddy mess. The dogs love to roll and get muddy as heck here. Some thought has been put to make this more than just some second thought property. There is a blacktop track around the berm of the pond and benches that makes the park nice for people to walk around and sit when they are tired. Someone added a tennis ball carrier that you can go pick up the balls without bending over for the older crowd. A wooden box was created for jugs of water that people donate as well as dog bowls around the property.

Good for those who want to walk your dog in a fairly boring area. Not much but grass and asphalt and gravel. No shade or super interesting places to explore for the dogs. But owners and dogs coming here have been great. At least Roy has stepped and provided something which many other cities are failing to do at the moment.

Initially we were disappointed there's only one area for all sized dogs. It turned out not to be a problem. This is a case where the people using the park were fantastic. This is basically a water retention basin that's normally dry. There is a walkway around it. The people who use this park have taken on a lot of ownership. There was a container with a number of gallon water jugs. There is a container of balls. While we were there a lady showed up with her dogs and a couple water jugs. She refilled all the water bowls. Everyone had well behaved dogs. This is a park that is better then the components of...
