I went here on a whim because I'd never been before. I don't think I'll be going back. I wanted it to be better than your typical subpar American Mexican restaurant but it was painfully below average. Allow me to explain-
I got the chile verde burrito plate and every element of the dish involving salsa or veg I ordered was strangely bitter with an equally strange aftertaste. The burrito would have been better without the salsa for this reason, but not by much. They claim the pork to be roasted but it tasted braised with not enough seasonings at best, but if I had to guess based on taste alone it had the texture of boiled meat and the flavor to match. The pork was also somehow dry. No amount of bitter, underwhelming salsa is going to cover that up, whose flavor I might add was confused and generally not that pleasant. The pico on the side was the same. Bitter with an odd aftertaste. Another thing to mention about the burrito itself was there were 3 or 4 bites I took that had an extremely unpleasant grainy surprise. I'm talking like as if I were camping and got a little dirt or sand in my food and crunched down on that. Not fun. The beans and rice were nothing special, but far better than the burrito, salsa and pico. Tasted very generic and normal and could have used more salt.
Aside from the food itself the service was prompt. I got my food shockingly quickly which is always nice, but I would have waited for food prepared fresh if it would have tasted better. I also requested that the salsa be packaged separate from the burrito in my take-out order but unfortunately either someone didn't listen, forgot or didn't care about my request because the burrito came smothered in the salsa. I would have preferred to add it at my leisure, but with how bad it was I probably would have ended up tossing it anyway.
I'm sure other items on the menu are better, but as a restaurant consistency should be key. The menu can only be as good as it's weakest link. If every item is delicious but one or two fall short then effort should be made to put time and energy into making every element the best experience possible for the guest. Because if not, you'll only be remembered for the food that...

I was seated quickly. The server brought me two types of salsa: a regular size serving of green salsa with lots of onion and cilantro and a tiny bit of red which was full of hot chile. I liked them and thought it was wise not to give much of the spicy salsa - I know more than a few people who wouldn't be able to take the heat. I turned my attention to the menu and realized I had to decide between several tasty options. There was pork in salsa Verde, chile rellenos, and shredded beef piled high on anything that stood still.
I went with an old standard. One enchilada with shredded beef and one with chicken, rice and beans on the side. The kitchen was quick, and my server brought a refill with my plate. I mean it when I tell you this was a good meal. The enchiladas were stuffed with plenty of filling, sufficiently sauced, and crowned with cheese and lettuce. The beef and chicken fillings were seasoned with onion and spices. The refried beans with cheese were piping hot and creamy beany goodness. The rice was fluffy, and for once in the history of Mexican restaurants it actually was not bland. I was impressed with how hot the food was; if I wanted cold food, I'd have ice cream instead of enchiladas. Anyway, overall delicious and so reasonably priced.
My server stopped by and I told her how much I liked the shredded beef. She said it was her favorite too, along with the carne asada and the mixed fajitas. I can see how a person could have more than one favorite at Burrito Grande.
As much as I want you to eat there, I have to mention the only weakness I found. The enchilada sauce is boring. It's not bad, just lacks flavor.
Bottom line : good service, good food, good price, clean. Stop by when the parking lot is empty and fill up on some great...
Read moreIf i could give zero stars I would. We have been going to this place for years. However after last night's experience we will not be going back. We went with some friends of ours before going to see Bar D Wranglers at the high school. Our friends ordered a strawberry margarita, I had a tequila sunrise, and my hubby ordered a beer. The waitress brought mine and my friends drinks but did not bring my husbands beer. Only after getting our food did we see our waitress again and only after asking did he receive his beverage. We had placed our food orders and they brought them out after some time. My husband had ordered the chimi with Carne asada. He started eating and noticed there was no beef in it, only beans and cheese. After about 20 min the waitress came around. We told her about it and she said well what did you order. She looked on her order list and found it. She walked away and came back and said well the kitchen is busy do you want a side of Carne asada.....um what? The rest of us were almost done with our food and you want us to wait another 30 min for Carne asada? So we said no that's ok. Just bring us the check. Upon paying for our food we noticed they were going to charge us full price. I spoke up and said this needs to be discounted. So whomever was taking care of us on checkout went and talked to some other employees and came back. She said ok I discounted it. I looked and they took off 3 whole dollars. I said 3 dollars for no beef? So a side of Carne asada is 3 dollars? She said yeah. I get that they were busy but to be rude and have an attitude to a loyal customer for years is ridiculous. I told her we would not be back. Her reply.. "ok thanks"... so if You're thinking of going here don't bother. Food has gone down hill, drinks were super watery, and the customer Service...
