I purchased furniture at the beginning of this year. Table and chairs, two couches and two recliners. I was offered the warranty on all product. I normally donât pay for warranty but I did as our salesperson Desirae informed us it covers everything. So we decided to go with it. They came out and fixed our dining room chairs as we first received the set, the chairs were not firm and felt broken. Just recently the top of the table has begun to peel. I keep a table runner and placemats on my table at all times. I called for service, the service guy came out and stated that should not be happening, he took photos even with my placemats on the table and stated he would get back to me. I said okay, a week passed and we received a phone call stating it would not be covered as it is moisture damage. I was not happy. I called the service department on Bay Road, a woman answered the phone, I believe her name was Alison, stated that yes it is not covered. She informed me that to refinish the table would cost more than the table, then what is the point of the protection/warranty plan your salesperson sold me. She said she would pass the message along to the manager of service and he would call me back. I could tell by her attitude I wouldnât get a call back, sure enough almost 3 weeks later nothing. I called Desirae multiple times last week and left multiple messages. She has yet to return my phone calls. I even called the personal work cell phone that was given to me and left a message. Still nothing. It was funny when I first was in the process of purchasing this merchandise it was a quick response now all of a sudden crickets. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GODWINS, they DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WARRANTY/protection plan. I even used the Care Kit that Godwinâs advertises to clean my table. I posted pictures of what my table looks like on a normal basis, a table runner and placemats. It changes with the holidays/seasons but that is my setup. The spots that are popping up and peeling under the placemats. This is the cleaning kit given to me by GODWINS TO CLEAN MY PRODUCTS, but moisture damage is my fault and not covered
recently went in to Godwinâs to pick up a copy of my receipt. The lady who provided me with the receipt asked why I needed it. I explained for personal and to contact Ashley Furniture. I informed what happened. She said well you have gold plan, that should be covered. I said nope you service manager said no. So at this point it will turn in to contacting other people. She said that is horrible if Tom Goodwin knew what was going on, he would not be happy. I told her, I hope not, because this is sad how they treat...

That is, at that time. At her instruction, we purchased the extended warranty on all of our products. She informed us that it covered anything and everything. We have only had our dining room table for 8 months, and it is already peeling. We called to make an appointment, and Josh informed us that it was more expensive to refinish the table, then what the table was worth. So, they would not be doing anything for us.
We have purchased all of our furniture at Godwins for the last 5 years. I will NEVER purchase another item from Godwins. I will make sure that everyone knows what a horrible experience that we have had. I further will let everyone that I can know that they do not stand behind the warranties that they sell. I am a small business owner myself, and I have come in contact with hundreds of clients on a weekly basis. So I will make sure that they all know what a horrible place...

My daughter attempted to purchase a sectional couch from the State Street store, but was given incorrect information regarding the timing of delivery. Since she could not wait, she decided to cancel that entire order along with closing the financing through the store. It turned into total chaos with no return phone calls, rudeness by G.Godwin (beyond rude and unprofessional). He also not only raised his voice on the phone, but also used God's name in vain, and proceeded to hang up on me. Through the years I have made several purchases from Godwin's as well as people close to me. Never again. If this is how the current generation of owners conduct business, this family owned business will not last...
