My overall experience had been okay until the last couple of times. It seems that their attitude is totally different if you come in at 7:30 PM or so even though it closes at 8 PM. It seems that at that time the staff is unwelcoming and rude. I arrived at 7:29 PM and I was not asked the normal "for here or to go?". So, I said wanted to eat in. They told me that after 7:30 PM it could not be to eat in. Upon my disbelief, they said they could not put on a tray but would bag it and then I could eat at a table. My chicken bacon ranch, with NO ranch and dry. I went back to the counter asked for some ranch and it felt like they were doing me a favor. On my way out, at 7:55 PM, I tried to refill my drink and the soft drink machine was already shut down. This was not a good experience at all. If the restaurant closing time is at 8:00 PM then it's 8:00 PM, not removing services before that. If they really want to close and go home by 8:00 PM then advertise an earlier closing time or set that explanation of what's available and not. For instance, some fast food places say restaurant room closes at 10:00 PM, drive thru...
Read moreI used to come here more often, but because it's a little on the pricier side (in my opinion) it's been a while. My main complaint is that we waited 20 minutes for our food, and when we got our sandwiches, there were burnt bits all at the bottom and on the sides of the sandwich. I get the char on the bread, because that's normal. But why all the burnt crumbs everywhere? Other complaint, but when I used to get the turkey and swiss, it was always chunks of turkey, just like the chicken sandwich still has. But now it's more like deli meat. And even though they acknowledge on a sign they only have chiabatta bread at the moment, it is quite a smaller sandwich than before. For a 9.69 sandwich, the smaller bread is laughable and the amount on it felt quite cheap. It's not even worth the 6.59 for a half one. If they filled it more maybe it'd be more worth it, but it was quite skimpy and school-lunch-like rather than before. I had like 2 small strands of onion on the whole sandwich. The soup is my favorite thing here, and maybe when the flatbreads are back it'll be a tad better....
Read moreMy fiancé and I were once avid patrons of Souper, visiting multiple times a week, sometimes even daily. This longstanding affection makes it all the more disheartening to witness the establishment's decline over the past couple years, culminating in our recent, deeply disappointing experience. The chicken salad sandwiches, which were once generously portioned and a highlight of our visits, were made with a tiny layer of chicken salad, overwhelmed by an excess of onions. The stark contrast to the quality we had come to expect, especially given the price point, was startling. It's truly unfortunate to see such a drastic change in a place we once held in such...
