I am really considering never returning to this place. More often than not it's hard to enjoy. Today really just took the cake. I don't wanna sound like a grumpy old person, but it was really frustrating.
First of all, why is there a visibility pregnant life guard? I'm talking at least 8 months along. Who the heck is she gonna save?
I really thought it was why she was letting this group of boys get away with damn near murder, but all the life guards pretty much did.
If I had behaved like these boys had when I was young I would have been kicked out of the place. I think it was 3 brothers, and one friend. The friend avoided the other 3 after awhile. I think he was sick of their crap too.
So, this skinny kid, maybe 14, wearing a dangling cross earring in one ear like he's a character from The Outsiders, kept grabbing the second oldest boy and holding him under water.
Once or twice he screamed for him not to do it. The preggo life guard didn't even look their way. In fact she was either blankly staring off into the distance or watching the area that wasn't even her's. That really confused me.
So then McSkinny starting holding one nostril closed and blowing snot on the other two. Still nothing. I keep looking at her, she's not even looking at the pool.
Then the older two did something to the youngest who was probably about 8 and he left the pool, walking away with his head down. They called out to him to come back, but he didn't for awhile.
This really got to me. I was sorry for the little guy. Later they were on the kids side, fighting over the hoses. Holding each other under the water. It was rather violent. I thought here we go, different life guard, she'll do something, but nope.
At one point I asked the skinny kid to not blow anymore snot in the pool which he claimed he didn't, and told me to mind my business. Duh kid, that is my business. The pool was dirty anyway, so not sure what difference it really made.
4 or 5 different life guards and not one whistle blown at them. Do these kids own the pool or something? I'm seriously confused. Especially about the heavily pregnant life guard.
I'm seriously considering not going back, which sucks because swimming is the only exercise I can do because of...
Read moreThe hours do not reflect actual open hours for swim. They are not open for swim until 1:00 p.m. even during the summer. When their hrs show on Google open M-Th 5:30a-9pm. No adult or manager on duty to talk with, kid looks at me with a disgruntled look when I ask for a manager or an adult at that point, was told to take my party of 6 little girls to play outside in the back to play for 3.5hrs till 1pm. Told can't let kids swim because of what other people "Will Think" while you have people lounging just sitting in the lazy river , swim lessons going on in one section with other open sections and only a few doing laps. Id Leave only these kids were dropped off to me with the understanding M-Th 5:30-9p Fix your GOOGLE HRS! Or make summer hrs more reasonable. What a joke. Oh and your playground and sandy areas are filled with ants! Happy Birthday.
*Losing an HR waiting for other arrangements to help transport this group of kids to fire lake a man came from the center to find us just after I shared this review. He explains there's nothing he can do regarding how Google operates his business and proceeds to educate me on how I should have gone on his web page instead therefore I would have better been informed. " " "Because I misinterpreted Google saying it was M-Th 5:30a-9p" " " Then offered us some free passes not actually easing my current situation or resolving the aquatic centers revolving door of an issue he expresses happens on a regular basis. I can't imagine how many other different ways that's an inconvenience for clientele. I'm sorry that it was just the wrong place wrong time and I got wrapped into an ongoing issue that y'all need to get worked out. Its affecting your customer quality service, Which is why my star stands. Id take the passes but quite frankly just the bathrooms alone were gross and simply why I declined and left thank you but...
Read moreGreat place for Birthday Parties. My boy has had about 3 friend’s parties here this summer. They also provide food with their birthday packages. Basically pizza pockets and corn dogs… and donuts instead of birthday cake. Every party we’ve gone too puts the candles in the birthday boy or girl’s donut.. and they think it’s great.
They have a really great waterslide. In a few important ways their waterslide is better than the City Pool’s water slide. Sand Hollow’s slide is indoors so it’s open instead of enclosed like the St George City Pool. I imagine the City pool’s is enclosed because it’s outside and could get really hot where the water doesn’t continuously touch. The other thing I like about Sand Hollow’s slide is the turns are less harsh. I hurt my back on the city pool’s slide because of the violent twists and turns.. that are probably fun for most but I’m old and fat with a bad back and it laid me up for a week or so. Sand Hollow’s slide is still fast but it has more gentle twists and turns.
They have a great shallow water play area for the younger kids.. but it’s cool enough for everyone else too. Waterfalls and little slides. Then they have water guns that shoot really far and a whirlpool area that has a chill zone in the middle. We always have fun here.
The reason I give it 4 stars is because it’s an indoor pool, it smells like Chlorine but you do get used to it, and again an indoor pool does have its advantages in a super hot place like Southern Utah in the summer. Very slippery floors everywhere and all their equipment and air vents are really dusty. If I were them I’d figure out a grippy mat system that could go all over the ground around the pools and then I’d take a hose up the water slide stairs and regularly spray off all those green air vents and fake palm...
