Like when my 7-year old laptop recently bit the dust one night in the thick of finalizing income tax documents. Argh.... I was pretty sure I needed a new laptop and a generous portion of tech assistance to get quickly back on track--and I was new to the Twin Cities. So where and how to make it happen FAST?...Online? Locally?

I spent a few frustrating hours online, pursuing the type laptop and support I wanted and needed.....too many dots to connect. I was only more confused. I was initially referred to James from a friend who had used his services some years ago. For reasons unknown to me, the cord to my laptop wasn’t charging the battery and the battery ran out of power. I called James and he got me in right away and agreed to troubleshoot within a day as I told him I needed the computer for daily work. He got back to me the next day with a report that while he could fix the machine, he would need to order a part that would take maybe a week or so to obtain – and then his time/cost to make the repair. Coupled with the time, cost and age of the machine, I asked about getting new machine – which would entail transferring data from old to new machine. Bottom line: I purchased new, out of the box laptop from James which included his time to transfer data from my old machine to new machine. He did that work on a priority basis and I had the new machine with transfer of 80% of my apps within day or two. He was able to extract my hard drive from old machine and put it in another machine to get the 80% of the data transferred over – enough so I could continue working with the new machine. Then we did some remote session work (he controlled my new machine via an online connection) and he completed the transfer of various apps and made various tweaks to my system. I’m a satisfied client and so glad to have found James. He’s a solo who knows his way around computers, and who knows how to treat a client. I emailed James about my girlfriend's PC and when I stopped in to drop it off on a Monday with the understanding that he could look at it on Wednesday. He said, "Let's take a look inside and see what it needs quick, I've got some time before my next appointment". He got in there and knew exactly what needed to be done in a matter of minutes. His enthusiasm for the challenge of installing some upgrade components we had bought online and found out were too complicated to install ourselves, and his ability to get the machine running much quicker was amazing. Though far more amazing was his ability to diagnose several problems simultaneously, address each of them quickly, and get the computer performing so well that it's now running tasks 60 times faster than before he fixed it. Now we don't need to buy a new computer for quite a while and we can do everything we need to with this one. This will save us a lot of money at a time when that really counts for us.
