Great hiking trail with lots to see! Easiest to start at Lilydale Regional Park. It's mostly hill. I saw a lone coyote, some ruins, some caves, a cool bridge, views of the river, it's a must see!

Brickyard trail takes my breath away (literally, the uphill portion makes me wheezy)

Wow! What a little surprise. This trail starts off high and the trail descends down to the river. You'll catch some sweet views on the way down too! On the way down you'll walk through a secluded leafy green trail, at least during the warmer months. There's benches and some trash cans along the way too! You'll come across some babbling brooks, and a small lake that feeds into the river as well.

At the "end" of the trail you'll find a parking lot for Lilydale regional park. I advise you start there actually since there's actual parking spots. Whereas if you follow where google maps takes you it does indeed bring you to the trail, but you'll have to park on the road about a block away from the entrance. At a leisurely pace I definitely spend over an hour on the trail walking down...

Great little trail with a TON of history - also provides a convenient pathway from the bluffs down to the river (and Pickerel Lake). I often run the brickyard trail and can certainly state that it kicks my butt on my way up. Highly recommend this level of wheezing.

There are multiple points on the trail that provide really nice views of St. Paul, the river, and the marsh area adjacent. And you might occasionally find a turtle, owl, eagle, and so many more creatures hanging out here and there around the trail. Restoration atop the trail seems to be nearly complete (I think), but I believe the powers that be hope you'll stay...

Clear out of non indigenous trees, they've done done a thorough job. Bench to sit o overlooking Mississippi and good place to socialize s hikers, walkers...
