I heard good things about this antique store and it did not disappoint. There were three very clean and well organized levels to explore. The whole store has a beautiful museum style quality of display in every nook and cranny. The main level had a wide variety of everything you’d typically find at an antique store. I enjoyed perusing the furniture, books, cameras, photo albums, artwork, collectibles, and cases of collections. Leading down to the lower level was a well curated and amazingly rich collection of Winter Carnival memorabilia. I had no idea it used to be such a big deal as I have only ever seen the modern day version, which seems to be a fraction of the festivities it used to be. There are costumes, portraits, newspaper clippings and articles. One case even had a stuffed mountain goat! The rest of the basement had an assortment of household goods and tools. I was moved to tears in the kitchen section as I was instantly transported in memory back to my grandmothers homes. It’s amazing how some items are a window to the past that we didn’t even realize. I also loved the antique tools which reminded me of my grandfathers basements and garages. The upstairs was hot as it was a toasty summer day. There was a lot of artwork and more interesting displays. I would recommend any antique or history lover to check...
Read moreThe store is very cool, they will help you and have great deals. However, I'm mixed race with dreadlocks and I overheard that staff believes that I look like I don't bathe. I do, just need a retwist. Indeed, you have to wash your locs or they will mold. Samson, from the Bible had locs that are now called Wicks(he only had 9, I have 81) and they're rather common. Indeed, that preconception is WHY people choose to have their hair in this way. It's as to say, I don't look like you, and I'm not going to damage my body in an attempt to. There was also some demeaning conversation as I was paying.. the gentleman tried to assist and honestly kept me from simply walking out. This neighborhood has been... Something to try to keep my money local while only supporting people that see a real person when they look at me. I brush twice a day and floss every night, shower every night and have curly hair so medical professionals and hair stylists suggest I only wash it two-three times a week. I make too much to receive benefits, at all, got an extra game room, no EBT, no medical subsidies, no rent subsidies, car is mine... No cosigner, ever... Born in St. Louis Park and damn did I have less issues in Georgia and Texas than back in my home state. What you do is...
Read moreThis antique store is the bomb! And no I'm not talking about an incendiary device. They have a wonderful selection of beautiful antique furniture and all the knick knacks you might see and also dishes and just everything. But this store has something that no other store probably in the state of Minnesota has and definitely not the other 49 states. Pretty sure they don't have this. And what I'm talking about is unbelievable collection of winter carnival items. And I'm not just talking about within the last 5 years. They have stuff way back through to the 1930s the 1920s and I'm pretty sure I even saw something from the 1880s, which is about the time the winter carnival started. Just they have the gowns they have the fur they have jackets they have hats they have all the sashes there's just everything. Some of the crowns I mean somebody really loved this event and has collected over the years I would say pretty much everything they could get their hands on. This is a place to take family members who are from out of town and you just march them over to that antique store and you show them that Winter Carnival stuff. They might be more inclined the following winter to actually come and see everything for themselves. If only we could get an ice...
