I was at Shuang Hur yesterday inquiring on prices for the different size rice cookers. I intentionally went there to get the 3-cup rice cooker for my son and his wife as they said they wanted a tiny one only. A family had mentioned that Shuang Hur may carry 3-cup rice cookers. While there, an employee was giving me the prices (3-cup for $89, 4-cup for $99, 5-cup for $105), I decided to ask about the 8-cup. He said the 8-cup was $108 - puzzled by the tiny difference from the 5-cup, I asked him to clarify - because why not spend more on a bigger rice cooker if in fact it was not much more in price. After all, we come from large families with many friends that we don't know when a bigger rice cooker would come in handy. The employee then told me "the prices change every day." Suddenly, without notice, an elderly man (must be the owner), shouted at me from behind to "GET OUT!" I was confused. He asked me, "you buy right now?!" I responded "no..." and, before I could finish, he proceed to tell me to "get out right now." He told me numerous times to leave, and then I explained to him that I was trying to compare the prices of the different size rice cookers so my family can come back this weekend to choose one. He quickly apologized when he heard me say I had plan on coming back this weekend, but then proceeded to tell me if I'm not buying then for me to "get out." Obviously, at this point, I am not pleased with how rude he was being and told him I will NOT be returning. He laughed and said he has the best prices anyway. Well Shuang Hur, honestly, I am not much of a bargain buyer - I shop at places that provides good service. I would rather spend MORE MONEY elsewhere that are polite to customers and appreciates business. I am a local and shop at Asian Markets weekly. So Shuang Hur, aside from your rude treatment, your place is also filthy! You will never receive my business ever again as well as from my many friends and families. ZERO...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI like this store because they have a variety of things to buy and have good prices. The parking is small though, but they did add another parking lot behind the store. There's some language barriers but for the most part I don't usually have issues when I shop here but except for today! I was doing my grocery shopping with a friend and as I was walking I felt this sharp pain under my foot. I looked under my croc and realized I had stepped on a piece of glass! It went through my croc and cut the bottom of my foot. I look ahead and see that a glass bottle of venigar had shattered! There were no caution signs, the mess wasn't cleaned up either. My friend tried to get help from the workers there but the first person didn't understand what we were saying. So then he does the hand gesture to wait. Other workers are near by so we asked for a first aid kit/basically alcohol to disinfect and band aids. One of the workers took me to the back of the the store to the kitchen area, cleaned my foot and croc with some water and put 2 band aids on my cut. We saw the hand sanitizer stand as I was walking back into the shopping area so I used that to disinfect my cut and applied a new band aid. I did inform the manager once we were at check out. I told him what happened. He asked me to show him where the incident occurred so I did. I pointed to the area that the glass bottle broke which was mopped up by this point but still they didn't put any cautions signs up yet. My blood was still on the floor too so another worker came to mop it. The manager went to get more band aids/sanitizer. When he came back, he handed me the stuff and apologized about what happened and I went on home. I just wished they were more aware and did more to keep customers safer. Other than that, I recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would give them 5 stars but I felt like one of the employees was trying to rush me out the store since I was meandering around the store..when I go to a store I want to look around and not be bothered and go at my own pace especially if itās my first time at the storeā¦but he come up and says ācan I help you to find anythingā and I said Iām trying to figure things out on my own, you know in case I want to come backā¦but he persisted and asked again what I was looking forā¦so I said many things hoping he would take a hintā¦so I let him help me find of my itemsā¦but if a person says they basically donāt need help, and they arenāt doing anything wrongā¦let them be.
Iām not a Chinese person and you donāt try to play the race card..but that is exactly how someone is treated when they are being profiled..or that person is making others feel uncomfortableā¦which I would not think I was because I was obviously there to buy things because I had a basket with a couple items..and Iām obviously not homelessā¦but again Iām not assumingā¦
Maybe he was just trying to be helpfulā¦but learn cues your customers give you and respect itā¦Iām sure many people just want to shop and not engage with someone..
I will go back when I need certain ingredients and I let them know next time that I want to walk around the store and not be bothered because Iām a paying customer..
I hope this was a one time thing but if I come back and it happens again..then I will suspect...
