Stogie's on Grand — Attraction in Saint Paul

The building itself is reasonably impressive; it has plenty of room to move around compared to other places and they use their space well. I personally rather like the layout of the place in general. They have a good selection, especially of pipe tobacco, though their cigar selection is average. They're one of the few that carry Djarum cloves. However, the service is rather poor. The staff have an air of highly unwarranted snobbishness and are very reluctant to answer questions about their merchandise since it seems beneath them. My friends and I came here a few times and all bought various tobacco supplies each time, but after the 3rd time we are never to return. We jokingly refer to it as "Stodgies" due to the general atmosphere and poor disposition of the various people manning the counter. There are other alternatives a relatively short distance away that have nearly as good a selection with vastly better staff that are both able and willing to explain simple things and engage in basic human...

Had heard about this place before and finally got out there to check it out last weekend. Couldn't have been more impressed. Their humidor had the best selection I have seen in the state. All of the necessities and a bunch of limited run TAA stuff that nobody else has. The staff was very inviting and friendly. They have the best prices I have seen in the state and I have been to many other of the good local shops. They have a nice patio out front right on Grand Ave. for some fantastic people watching while you enjoy your cigar. Inside they had a great area for watching sports and smoking during the winter months. Tried to buy a box of cigars was given the run around. Said I couldn't buy a full box! I've been coming here for years! I've bought boxes before from them! Owner talked to and stated the same! Your in Buisness to sell product. If you dont want to sell product you need to get out of the Buisness. I was told to buy half when I said I'll take the whole box. I'm a paying customer!
