Miracle on 15th Street What a treat to dine at the absolutely charming 15th Street Farm in St. Petersburg. The taste and feeling of experiencing their featured multi-course dinner “A Taste of France” on April 18th lingers on months later. The ambiance and natural setting of this urban farm and educational kitchen, located smack in the middle of the city, nestled among a wide array of lush plants, vegetables and trees, was truly magical. From the moment we arrived, we were totally charmed by the warm welcome of staff, the lush farm surrounding us, the subtle lighting and two long, beautifully set community tables. For a few hours, we got to savor a sumptuous dinner packed with farm grown fresh products harvested just a few feet away, while engaging in hearty conversations with friends and strangers. Community at its best! Indeed we were living the mission of this very special place: nourishing and nurturing food for the body, mind and soul. One of the staff members(or was it the inspired owner, entrepreneur, and author Emmanuel Roux himself?) who described the farm as a “breeding ground for dreams to come true!” Poignant words that struck a chord. The origin story of this place is no small feat. A mini miracle how this place grew from transforming several lots of Faith House, an alcohol and drug rehab center, into this lush urban teaching farm, one with offshoots in other neighborhoods, each providing hands-on education and volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. At the heart of their activities is growing healthy foods with no chemical fertilizers or pesticides nourishing them instead with soil microorganisms that contain “organic matter to feed the plants that feed us”. More than a night out or a meal, this fabulous urban farm is a place we want to come back to again and again.

Visiting 15th Street Farm has been such a rewarding experience for our homeschooling journey! My preschooler absolutely loves exploring the farm, getting hands-on with nature, and learning where our food comes from in the most engaging way possible. The team at the farm is so welcoming and knowledgeable, making every visit feel like an adventure. From harvesting vegetables to interacting with their garden pup, Jacob, it’s been an incredible way to bring our lessons to life outside the classroom. I love that my child is developing a real connection with nature and an appreciation for sustainable farming at such a young age. If you’re looking for a meaningful, educational, and fun outing for kids, I can’t recommend 15th Street Farm enough! We’re so grateful to have this resource in our community and look forward to many more visits.

The $25 veggie basket offers unbeatable value for organic produce. Unlike what you find at grocery stores, here you receive the whole vegetable, from root to tip. This means not only do you get watermelon radishes and beets, but also the nutritious greens attached to them (which are delicious when simmered in a veggie broth with fresh garlic, salt, black pepper, and a dash of cayenne pepper) I suggest visiting for the vegetables but staying for the enriching conversations with Emmanuel, Hillary, and all the passionate individuals who contribute their love and knowledge to this space. It's not just a place to find quality produce; it's a community hub where love for good food and great company is abundantly shared.

Came here for a dinner and felt like I was transported somewhere else entirely. The atmosphere reminded me of cooking classes I have taken in Greece and Italy! From the moment I walked in I just felt relaxed and more at ease. The food and aromas filling the air were incredible. Who knew we had a place like this in DTSP? Emmanuel and the rest of the team are so passionate about their mission as a nonprofit and it’s so refreshing to witness. We’ve been working with Tina to create a collaborative space for holistic and alternative practitioners, and I couldn’t think of a better place to create those connections. Next time you’re wondering where to go for a date night, host large groups for special events, or just go somewhere solo and feel a warm sense of community, go on their website and reserve your spot at a dinner, you absolutely will...
