La Mamma Gelato Caffe — Where Gelato Dreams and Credit Limits Go to Die (In the Sweetest Way)
Picture this: it’s 10:52 AM, and I’ve just dropped $22.86 on espresso and a cup of “Dubai Chocolate Strawberry” that tasted like a Ferrari dipped in Nutella and rolled through a strawberry field planted by angels. Was it $15? Yes. Was I prepared for that? Absolutely not. Did I lick the cup clean and seriously consider ordering another one? Also yes.
This place is not just a gelato shop—it’s a dessert empire masquerading as a café. You want a brownie stuffed with gelato and whipped cream? They got it. You want a banana split that could double as a family-sized flotation device? Boom, it’s on the menu. Macarons? Of course. Crepes? Oui, chef. And not just any crepes—we’re talking Peanut Butter Cup Crêpes that make your childhood favorites feel like sad toast.
The milkshakes are $9.50 but come with the kind of happiness you usually need therapy or a vacation to achieve. The smoothies? Pure fruit magic. Add protein for $3 if you want to pretend you came here post-workout instead of because you blacked out and wandered into a dessert fever dream.
And let's talk about that Gelato Croissant. It’s basically what happens when a French pastry falls in love with an Italian gelato and they have a baby that tastes like happiness wrapped in carbs.
I asked for a simple espresso. They handed me liquid motivation in a cup—bold, rich, and cheaper than therapy.
The staff? Delightful. The vibe? European café meets downtown St. Pete flair with a side of sugar-induced euphoria. The receipt? Yeah, it stung a little—but then again, so does love.
Final verdict: Come for the gelato. Stay because you’ve entered a magical sugar vortex. Leave only when your bank app says “ma’am, please.”
I’ll be back tomorrow....

Read moreI ordered a Nutella crepe with strawberries and bananas. It took quite some time to make but I waited, and when I got up to the counter to pay the lady working, then tells me that she’s run out of bananas, so she gave me extra strawberries and added whip cream and asked me if that was okay when the crêpe was already finished. If I had known I probably wouldn’t have ordered it, but I felt bad because she was the only one in the store at the time and there were already three other people waiting. So I paid for a crêpe that had cream I didn’t want I didn’t have bananas for a whopping 15.60 plus I was charged an extra $1 for the “ added strawberries” I didn’t ask for. I go outside and decide to just eat it and open the box to find what’s pictured below that doesn’t even look like a crêpe and clearly doesn’t even have added strawberries. I never leave reviews, but I had to this time because this is unfair. She should’ve let me know She didn’t have all the ingredients and my kindness ended up losing...
