6th Update 9/2/24: Another rate hike, base rate increasing to $266 before tax ($273.98 total) on 10/14/24. Average of a rate increase every 8 months is holding true. Started at $121 in April 2021 and have now increased a total of 220% in 3.5 years equating to a 63% rate increase PER YEAR. Service remains good and facility is clean and secure, just be aware of 1-2 price increase per year once you move in. This was my second increase in 2024 alone.

5th Update 1/6/24: Rate hikes continue, received 12/3/23 notice that my rate would go up $33 on 1/14/24 to my total is now $230 before tax ($242.65 total), started at $121 back in April 2021. Since starting not quite 3-years ago, I've had 4 rate increases in Aug 21; May 22; March 23; and Jan 24 so they are increasing on average every 8 months. Facility is nice but watch out for rate hikes (got my first increase of 50% after just 3 months back in 2021.) Once you move in, they've got you and will raise your rates. Beware!

4th Update 3/16/23: Just got notice of a rate increase to $211.93 up from $197.03. This increase coincides with the 2nd anniversary of my start date. Third rate increase in 2 year, though they did eventually role back one rate hike last year as noted in my 8/31/22 update. Still a nice facility, well maintained, just watch out for rate hikes.

3rd Update 8/31/22: After my 2nd update, they did reach out and roll back the 2nd price increase so I'm back to $197 now which is still 50% higher than first 3-months I paid. It wasn't a huge decrease, but I did want to give them credit for reaching out and rolling back the 2nd increase. Still a nice facility, just watch your bills and be aware of price increases if you choose to store things here.

2nd Update 5/22/22: Been a customer for 1 year and have had TWO rate hikes. Received notice of my 2nd rate hike on 4/8/22 stating my new rate for a 10x10 unit was $230.84 with taxes. We started out paying $121 in April of 2021, then it went up to $197 in August 2021, now $231 in April of 2022. The facility is nice and service is good, just be aware of a 100% rate hike over your first year. They know that it is hard for you to find the time to move out once they have you moved in, so be prepared to be taken advantage off once you get settled in.

Updated review 8/13/21: I've updated my review based on new interactions with this business. Set up process was easy and unit is nice, but beware, you're original rate is not safe for long. After 3 months, received notice that my rate was increasing 50%. I called to discuss and offered to sign longer lease. Was told only option was to prepay to lock in my rate. I was willing to prepay at original rate but when trying to prepay, was told no, you can prepay the new higher rate, not the old rate. Once you get your stuff moved in, expect a hefty price increase. I'll be moving out of my unit based on this bait and switch business practice.

I got a call right away and was able to get my unit and gate code without having to go in to office. When I got there, everything worked as advertised, gate, door, elevator, they even had carts available. My unit was ready to go. Super clean...

After researching several storage places for the best price and usage, my wife and I decided to use Extra Space Storage thanks to the transparency and honesty of Cory. We were moving our personal items out of a storage space in North Port which is approximately located 75 miles south of our new location in Saint Petersburg. Thinking that we had plenty of time to spare after picking up our items from storage in Northport, we proceeded to start driving from North Port at 3 PM knowing that we needed to arrive by 6 PM to our new unit at Extra Storage Space unit. With the unpredictable traffic in Sarasota County and Manatee slowing us down by an extra 45 minutes, we arrived to the toll booth at the Skyway Bridge with our WAZE Navigational system letting us know that there was a vehicle fire and it would be 2 hours delay on the bridge. Fortunately we were able to turn around at the rest area and head back towards I75, but that would put our arrival time in Saint Petersburg at 6:15 PM. I called Jerry at Extra Storage Space in St Petersburg and he had said that we could stop by another location that would be closer for us and on our new route around Tampa Bay to sign our lease so we would make it to the on time and be able to drop off a U-Haul full of our personal items. Now arriving at this other location at 6:05, we had to call ahead to the new location to inform Tara that we would be about five minutes late, she delightfully informed me that she would be happy to stay the extra five minutes allowing us to sign our lease purchase our cylinder lock, show us how to use it, and be on our way to our permanent storage location 8 miles south of her location. I highly recommend Extra Space Storage because of their customer service exceeds any other storage facility that I have ever experienced in my 25 years of using storage units. I recently signed a lease for a 5x5 storage unit with Extra Space. I chose them over some competitors because their 5x5 units are 8ft tall (others are just 4ft lockers) and because they had high ratings for customer service, which they certainly lived up to!

Viewing potential units on their site is easy, and you can reserve a space (and even sign a lease) online as well. I opted to reserve the unit I wanted, so I could ask a few questions first (this is my first storage unit). Within 24 hours, Kristina gave me a call. She answered all my questions and gave me additional information. She was able to set up my lease via the phone and sent me all the paperwork electronically, so I could get it set up that day, without ever having to go to the office! It was such a smooth process. Kristina also gave me really helpful details on how to find my unit and navigate the space.

I moved my stuff into my unit a few days later. Instructions on keys, etc. were all waiting for me. The facility is extremely clean, well organized, and well staffed. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There were plenty of carts to move my boxes (even though I went on a prime time on a Saturday).
