Took an anniversary trip to Salado, Tx for the Scottish Gathering and Highland games. The calling of the clans Friday night was very cool. The games and competitions on Saturday seemed a little disorganized, but still fun to watch. The main thing that hurt my heart was the bagpipe, and drum competitors kept playing while the event organizers played taps since it was Veterans Day. That aside, if you've never been warned, take a chair there's nowhere to sit other than where the band plays. Have fun and learn your heritage.

Informative little free museum about the history of Salado, the people who have lived here, and the evolution of their town. The museum has several interesting placards, illustrations, and artifacts. They also have room for changing traveling exhibits. The museum is located along the main North South road through the town. It is a short walk to the college park ruins site. There is free parking along surrounding streets.

The Salado Museum & College Park has hosted one of the largest Scottish Gatherings for 62 years now. It falls in the beginning of November. It is an experience! The Salado College Ruins are a beautiful walk only 50 feet from the Main Street museum. The new exhibit is about the settlers of the area. The shops and brewery are a close walk as well.

Small park. Cool ruins from the old college. Im glad to see the group taking care of the area isnalso using the space to put in example gardens to show visitors how simple it is to have pollinator/rain/etc. Gardens. It would be nice to see them add more to the open space in the ruins to give a better idea of what it was like, the pictures on the info boards don't...
