Update: While I still have fond memories of this store as a child, I wont ever be back. Went in today ready to spend some money. Browsed around and chatted with the workers. Super nice attitudes. I found some unpriced rolled up used posters and asked the clerk what the prices were. He told me $5 a poster. I bunched up 10 posters among some other stuff. Another worker asked me if I needed the posters priced and I told him the other clerk said they were $5 each. He came back and said sorry that he actually would need to look them each up on ebay and charge me half price. The bait and switch kind of soured me on the whole experience, so I paid for my other things and abruptly left. The worker made an attempt to apologize, but clearly was not willing to honor the price that was originally quoted and was just trying to justify his pricing strategy.
There are multitudes of places to buy cards online and other shops that can be driven to in an hour or less. I was trying to support a local long standing business, but I will never spend another dollar at this establishment.
I would not recommend to anyone.
This has been my favorite card shop since I was 10 years old. I grew up 2 blocks away and started coming here in 1995. Soooo many great childhood memories. I would spend hours in the shop at a time and Bill, the owner, was never bothered. I've been several times as an adult and have received the same level of excellent customer service each and every time. I'm glad to see the shop is still around. It's the only one left standing from the 90s heyday of sports cars shops. A true part of...
Read moreI called this man and told him I had some sports cards to sell, he said bring them in so he can look at them. Well they were not in folders, or neatly organized as he seems to prefer which is fine. He is allowed his preferences. The cards were in mint condition regardless, but he would not look through them and he didn't want to keep them for any amount of time, to go through them either. . He picked up a stack and looked through some of them, and then said I can offer you $15 dollars for these 4 cards, but the rest are not worth much more than that...I took his deal, because I didn't want to go there for nothing, but I left there feeling, lied to and looked down on. Shortly after that day, I found out that the cards he bought, claiming they were not worth much, were in fact worth quite a lot. He was speaking to other customers while half way dealing with me & behaving as if he didn't have time to be bothered by me the entire time - which was all of 4 minutes out of his day. I won't be back there and I am spreading the word about my experience. I feel he took advantage of me bc I am a woman and he thinks I know nothing about the...
Read moreTook a few cards in to sell, just the dual auto relic alone is worth over $400. Dude offered me 20 bucks for both cards, talking about how since they are from a âlower endâ set, and not diamonds or some shit, they arenât worth that much. Then proceeded to try and tell me that since he could buy a âgradedâ Reggie Jackson from a completely different set, that was ONLY an autograph, for less than a hundred that there just isnât much money to be madeâŚ. I will say though I sold some basket ball cards there the other day with this dude named Jeremy, and he was actually decent. Was able to come to a pretty decently fair agreement Iâd say. But this other dude will straight rip you off, by taking advantage of ignorance. Would not recommend selling, trading, or buying cards from...
