WONDERFUL DAY TRIP LOCATION, INCLUDING STUFF FOR SMALL CHILDREN TO BE AMUSED BY! 🤩 My mother in law, took my sister in law, hisband, myself and our 5 year old on a 2 week vacation across country to the East coast where my husband's family came from (reside in AZ now.) And my daughter is just as obsessed with the beaches and oceans of the world, like I am. Parking was further away and had the convenience of paying for your parking time with electronic machines, easy to use! The cute shops along the boardwalk are just the absolute best. My husband and our child went to play in the never ending arcade game spot! While mama went to a store to find some knick knacks to bring home! We also spent some time on the beach and in the water which of course my daughter was super obsessed with and had a blast running in the water, finding beautiful sea shells for us to remember our trip here but she also picked out specific ones for our family back home. My husband and I also had a mission to complete for my baby brother whom passed away in November of 2020, whom wanted desperately to go back East and we filled up the last bottle of whiskey he had and the bottle our family all drank from at his funeral, with East Coast ocean sand ... And now proudly displayed above my fireplace in the home we shared together. It was a beautiful memory. There's lots to do and definitely some amazing food to be eaten!!! We got pizza from one place and they put sugar on it, I was starving so I ate it but it wasn't that great. There's an entire walkway that goes along the beach further up in the sand where if you walk all the way to the pergola that has seating and a cover to enjoy the ocean breeze and view without any sun and on a decent walkway. Too many things to name that I and my family absolutely loved, just go here if you get close enough to this area. It's a unique experience you can tell how old this place is and it's timeless beauty is preserved as much as possible while entertaining the newest generation. Also, there were some old school photo prints that contained images from this very boardwalk that had lots to do and was a lively and beautiful place full of entertainment and smiles. Some are black and white prints but check them out in the stores. Just incredible it hasn't changed much other than some restoration and remodeling and some updating but still just as entertaining. Plus many places along this whole beach going both ways. Take your family or your significant other or even go by yourself, an experience unlike any other. I absolutely loved it and will be going back...
Read moreBeautiful beach! State Park no food or drink vendors, restaurants or stores without leaving the beach and driving down the road. Nothing commercial at or walking distance to beach. Bring your own food and drinks. New changing rooms and showers for rinsing off. Bathrooms were closed for repair at entrance I used on 07/17/22. Smelled like urine all around changing stalls. Like people peed on the ground in there since there were no functional bathrooms unfortunately. Large parking lots with multiple entrances. Don't know about toilets at other entrances. Pay by machine on site or phone. Nice campground next door with RV and tent sites and some nice trees. fire pit grills, showers & toilets in campground. And large playground. Ice cream truck came around parking lot occasionally with snacks and drinks, when I was there. But you have to walk a short bit from the beach and may not hear them come depending on where you are. One thing about this beach is there's a steep drop along the edge of beach and water. You can see the water in front of you but you can't see where the surf hits the beach unless you sit right where the beach drops down. There can be rip tides and strong currents here. Because of visual difficulty of surf and tides it may not be the best beach for younger children. There are lifeguards on duty until 5:45pm. You are asked to leave the beach at sunset unless you are camping in the...
Read moreThis place was amazing, and I was only able to see a small portion of it. While a little expensive for an out of state day trip, the amenities are worth it. My family went the week before memorial day, and despite the stellar weather, the beach was far from crowded.
There were multiple parking lots with plenty of parking. The lots were well labeled and felt safe. There was bathroom facilities at the lot we parked in as well as an outdoor shower area with i think 12 showers surrounded by changing booths with locking doors. The changing rooms were surprisingly spacious and i appreciated they were made from a thick plastic and not a tarp or cloth.
There was an elevated walk way over the protected areas to the beach with the softest sand I can remember. The beach was clean and not crowded. Also, there were lifeguards who were attentive and friendly.
The view was amazing, such a large beach area with views and a park feel for a good distance. I liked it better than the beaches that feel like they have hotels looming over you and because they are practically on the beach it feels like you are trespassing on THEIR beach. (Not sure if other people care about that, but it matters to me)
It also appears that there are campsites and many more amenities. My family will definitely...
