While out surfing on an empty, knee high day in front of Surfside with a newbie friend, an employee of Wildflow who was also surfing, verbally harassed me and threatened physical violence after I called out (in accordance with surf etiquette) "left" to notify him of where I was going on a wave I was paddling for, and further let him have the wave. Among other not nice things, the employee told me to "go back to the wall" - which I think is good advice because the employees at other surf shops such as ZapStix, Cinnamon Rainbows, and Summer Sessions don't engage in such violent localism that until now, I have only seen in movies. Be careful of surfing around here if you aren't paying for a lesson.
After I started ignoring the harassment and moved away, this employee talked to the lifeguards who then whistled me in. They told me I wasn't allowed to surf there but the employee could because the surf school he worked for had a permit that allowed them to but not me (though my guess is that the permit is just for giving lessons, not personal surf time). I also told the lifeguards about his behavior, they said to not worry because this person was "too smart" to hurt me - not "too kind" or "too moral."
I have spoken with the owner through other google reviews that have been taken down (my guess is for naming the employee by name in them) - they are aware of who did this but deflected any responsibility - for example by claiming they "couldn't verify" this happened and that the employee allegedly doesn't work there any more (contrary to recent reviews) and their website.
Edit as a reply to owner: I will leave it up to others to decide if your employee while using Wildflow's permit to surf a restricted area flipping out on me and threatening to attack me after I let them have the wave is something you should be responsible for! And like I said if this person is no longer current staff, you can still contact them if you'd like to verify this! And your website has a list of instructors, and other reviews name them (including the person who threatened me) so I do know who at least some of your employees are! And you are "speaking" to me through google reviews so not sure where your logic is there. The owner appears to be a fan of "alternative facts."
Final edit: Its disappointing that you choose to lie about my interaction with the lifeguard rather than just say "I apologize for your interaction with my former employee who was surfing on his personal time. That is not the vibe Wildflow is trying to spread." and I would have...

Read moreAs a parent, I can’t say enough about what this surf camp meant for my daughter Graceland and me. This was her very first surf camp, and from the moment we arrived, CJ and the team made us feel completely at home. CJ runs the camp with so much heart, you can see right away that this is more than a business to him, it’s a passion.
Thomas annd CJ her instructors, were nothing short of amazing. The way they connected with Graceland and the other kids was truly special, patient, encouraging, and filled with the kind of positive energy every parent hopes their child will be surrounded by. Watching her catch her very first wave, with CJ cheering her on, was one of those moments I’ll never forget as a father.
What I love most about this camp is that it isn’t just about surfing. Yes, you’ll learn to ride waves, and ride them well — but it’s also about building confidence, creating unforgettable memories, and being part of a community that welcomes you with open arms. It’s a place where kids thrive, parents feel proud, and adults of any age can discover (or rediscover) the joy of surfing.
Whether you’re a parent looking to give your child an incredible experience, or someone who’s always wanted to try surfing yourself, this camp is the perfect balance of safety, skill, and fun. CJ and Thomas have built something truly special here, a camp that leaves you with more than just surf skills. You leave with stories, smiles, and the kind of memories that last a...
