Worse than the worst!
Based on positive reviews, we decided to try Atlas Tree Service – HUGE MISTAKE!!!
The cost was 2 to 4 times higher than any other arborist we have ever used, but we decided to give them a try, wanting to make sure that the work was done correctly. We also saw that they advertise using more organic methods in treating the trees, which appeals to us. In the early 1980's I worked for a certified nurseryman, and have a pretty good idea of how important proper pruning is for the health of the trees. Imagine my surprise when I found that they absolutely butchered the trees – leaving multiple partially severed limbs and damaged to so many branches that I could hardly believe the harm and damage that was done. The amount of injury they did to the trees by virtue of astonishingly careless pruning was painful to observe. They gashed the bark on many of the trees through their carelessness. They girdled some of the branches that were left on the trees. They left a number of branches partially cut through, but still connected. I subsequently checked with a trusted professional, who pointed out many other problems with the “pruning for fruit production,” including failure to prune many branches that should have been thinned – thus leaving the trees vulnerable to breakage due to excessive fruit weight. I have pictures of their “job” on the trees, if you would like to see what an astonishing awful job looks like.
For the extremely high amount of money they charged, I expected a serious and professional job. The sloppy and haphazard job that I received included so much harm to the trees that I hardly know what to say. To say that I am extremely unhappy with the job would be to severely understate the facts.
Of lesser importance, but still annoying, they did not let us know of the appointment until 20 minutes before they arrived. I spoke with them about removing the "suckers", which I believe he called water sprouts, and they agreed to do so. They did so only poorly. They also left some considerable amount of mess on the ground around the trees. Atlas Tree Service also ignored our request for a list of the materials used in fertilizing the trees, which raises real questions about just how “organic” they really are, and the treatment offered for one of the trees was purely chemical.
We also have a coupon for 10% off, which they acknowledged, but have still not honored.
Frankly, these people are an absolute...
Read moreMy daughter needed a large elm tree removed that had grown too large for the small yard that it had grown in for many years before she purchased the property. After getting 6 quotes from different tree service companies we decided to have Atlas remove this tree. They were not the lowest quote, but were not the highest either. Three companies were about the same. We were told that they would call us with a scheduled date, we told them we needed at least four days notice as the tree was located in a condominium complex and the HOA needed to notify the homeowners that would need to have their cars moved so the large crane and other equipment could come into the parking area. We were called and notified of the scheduled day so we could notify the HOA. The morning that the tree would be removed the crane arrived about 30 minutes later than the starting time we were told, it was a good thing as the HOA did not notify homeowners very well and some cars were still in the parking area until just before the crane arrived. The crew was able to set up all equipment and only had to move one truck back a little to let a lady go to work. The crew was very polite and moved without a problem. This job went very smooth and the crew was very professional. When the cutting this tree they needed to cut it into six large sections which they lifted up and over the carport and storage shed with the large crane. When the cutting and chipping process was complete the crew raked and picked up the debris, they used leaf blowers to clean around the area and left parking area cleaner than it was before. The crew forgot to apply poison to the stump, I called the office to ask them about the poison, she contacted the crew and one of them stopped by on his way home from work to apply the poison. They were very helpful when asked about what kind of tree would be the best to replace the diseased elm. While I was there watching this whole process another homeowner came over to ask questions, He spoke very little english so a Spanish speaking member of the crew answered his questions and give him the contact information to have an Arborist come out to talk about the tree in front of his home. The payment on line process was very smooth and worked great. When the crew leader asked about payment I texted my daughter, she went on line paid for their service in just a few minutes. When getting quotes for your tree service include Atlas...
Read moreI have had Atlas do work multiple times and they do good work and Mitch is awesome. The reason for two stars comes to their billing and office communication. Over the course of the last year they have incorrectly billed me multiple times and last year getting things coordinated with them to come and do the work was next to impossible, but I liked the crews so much I dealt with it. Most recently however they performed a spring fertilization that I had requested twice to NOT have done and they did it anyway and left me a bill. I called to talk to them and remind them I had asked them to not do this multiple times and they did it anyway. They let me know they had called me and told me they were coming and if I didn't pay I would be sent to collections. There was another time they billed me randomly for work performed about a year ago and I had to provide my records that I had paid them because they showed I owed them. After I dug up the old bids and bills they did cancel it but if i hadn't had that apparently I would have been sent to collections. The sad thing for them is they had just given me a bid on another job for $800 that I would have used them on earlier this week. Apparently the $70 in spring fertilization that I had requested to not be done was worth more not to mention essentially calling me a liar in that I had never called them to tell them not to perform...
