Fishing at Elmendorf Park. Very relaxing and serene. Couple light strikes, no hook ups! Enjoy walking through the park during evening and night. When lights are turned on at the aerators it is beautiful! Not sure if Parks and Recreation have planted the catfish recently. Will have to check dates for planting. The paved trails are great for walking, riding bike, skateboarding, fishing, barbequing, or just sitting enjoying the sights and sounds! Large population of ducks and geese. The floating fishing deck is a great spot to fish or just sit! Park is well maintained, as are the trails, and sitting areas! Beautiful landscaping with a collage of colors! Cyprus tree's are breathtaking and beautiful! Party Store, Gas stations, restaurants, all in a close distant. 2-3 bus stops on Commerce St, with ample parking areas! There are restrooms and are usually closed and inaccessible! There is a water fountain for filling bottles and watering the fur babies! The mosaic art work on the rolling benches are extremely well done and are very comfortable! Very family oriented as well. Splash Park and free public pool are open during summer, closed as schools start. Trails are very well lit! Highly recommend utilizing the park during the whole year. 3 blocks from home so I enjoy an evening walk about every...

Also, there is a sidewalk around the entire lake for bikes or walking. Something cool is that it has a small pier that extends out onto the water which people can walk on and feed the ducks. Finally, Our Lady of The Lake University overlooks a large percentage of the area and the architecture is beautiful to see. Now, the negative aspects, which may be less negative to some, are as follows. First, there is a methadone clinic directly across the street from the lake and some of the clients like to frequent the park to ask people for money. Next, people tend to find drug paraphernalia such as needles and empty baggies along the lakeside. Yes, let's not forget that it is located in the West Side of San Antonio, so its probably not a good idea to go after dark. So, as one can see, you would have to accept the good with the bad if you visit here. In my opinion, the good...
