This is a Catholic University, founded by the Sisters of the Divine Providence. There are areas in the campus where you can just sit and reflect. This is a school that gives second chances. The instructors are caring and concerned about students' success. You aren't a number or just means for revenue; classes are small enough that professors know your name. I've carried on friendships with several professors well beyond graduation. Disregard the petty nay-sayers -- that it's a glorified high school in a bad side of town (some of the "best" schools on the East Coast are located in some of the roughest areas). Your experience is what you make of it. As I've told my children, I'll pass the same unto those interested in attending college: choose the school that offers you the best financial aid. I think this university offers a good financial deal. Additionally, the university has added athletics, baseball being the newest sport on campus. Several of the sporting programs have already proven successful. Good academics, good professors, good financial aid, and now, good athletic department. Great school especially for first-gen college students. Bottom line: you commit and put in the hard work (as is expected from you at any learning institution) and you'll reap...
Read moreI considered returning to college after 18 years of what I would describe as "wasting my time." I suppose, better late than never. Chelsea, was the young lady, at the campus office who helped me organize myself and in no time I was back in college again; this was over a year ago. It was important to me that I continue my college education at a Catholic University. I do appreciate and enjoy my classes and the other students and professors so much more than I did when I was in my early 20's. I suppose my appreciation, and my definition of what I deem important and meaningful has come with maturity. I take classes both online and at OLLU - The Woodlands Campus. Every staff member I have encountered at the campus has been more than helpful and they have always had time for me. This holds true for the professor's I have had too. So far, my most favorite course has been Christian Ethics. I would very much recommend Our Lady of the Lake University to any adult returning to college and of course to any one who has just graduated from high school. I stumbled upon OLLU by accident; attending has been one of the best decisions I...
Read moreI have been attending this university for three years now and I personally wish that I had put my effort and money into another university with faculty that actually cared about my success. I had first planned to transfer to nursing school which is why I put up with the university for so long but now I wish to continue with my biology degree and the little help that I have received from advising is disappointing. I do NOT recommend this university to anyone who is planning on pursuing a biology degree or medical career, the program is extremely flawed and there are a few professors who genuinely care about helping you out and your gpa, no curves or boosts. Have even had a certain professor mock me in front of the class just for a laugh, just when you thought that insecurities and childish behavior pertained to highschoolers. My college experienced has been tarnished, highly recommend investing your time in another private university or even...
