Gold Tender Jewelry Craftsmen — Attraction in San Antonio

I had a very unfortunate experience with Gold Tender on Basse Rd. After going to the pool after getting my husband's Tag diver's watch battery replaced, water got into the watch. Instead of returning to Gold Tender since they obviously did not do a correct divers watch battery replacement the first time, I took it to another jewelry store to be looked at. The watch repairer then showed me how when the battery was replaced, the gasket was not replaced as well, leading to it snapping and then water getting into the entire watch, including the face and mechanisms. He also informed me that he personally refuses to change a watch battery for a customer without replacing the gasket (which Gold Tender failed to do.)

Gold Tender took on the job of working on a divers watch without notifying their customer that they would not replace the gasket nor check that it is still water resistant (which is the entire point of a diver's watch). When I spoke to either the owner or watch repair man at Gold Tender, he then stated that they cannot check that a divers watch is water resistant after changing the battery, which is what they should have stated to me before allowing the me to put my trust in the individual's hands who replaces the battery.

The owner (who was rude and refusing any responsibility) or whoever in charge that I spoke to, then claimed that it was my fault because I did not think to ask if they checked to see that the watch was water resistant after replacing the battery, even though this is their specialty and if they are willing to work on a divers watch, then checking if it is water resistant should be an unspoken understanding. In addition, regardless if we had the watch serviced recently or not, it still should not have been susceptible to water since the water got in from a gasket that was not replaced.  I'm sure more than likely they will respond and say that the customer is at fault, it's just very unfortunate that I put trust in this shop. I would recommend finding a more reputable store to do your watch battery changes. After arguing with the owner for a while, he finally agreed to refund the watch battery replacement but it will not cover our huge repair. Best experience ever at a jeweler, very fast jewelry repair turn around and the quality far exceeded every where else I had been. These guys do it all from A-Z, couldn't be happier thank you Gold Tender! I’ve had horrible experiences working with Mr penoloza in the same shopping center, who doesn’t know a thing about actual jewelry work . They think they are a store like Morettis and they are very from it!!! They have no designer and their cad artist is very lacking in areas that I feel should be fulfilled by a professional. I’m tired of receiving their flyers in my mail and each time I get one I take it to gold tender and see what they can do for me instead. Now that I think about this I should post my negativity on penolozas reviews site. Just picked up my custom platinum cuff links and these things turned out awesome! Flawless work gentlemen! I’m never let down here and y’all always do a great job. Came here to get two simple 14k gold band rings sized down. Was very surprised when I picked them up to be told the charge was $75 per ring, which is very steep even when comparing to other jewelry shops. I wish I would have been told the price before I left my rings there to be worked on, my fault for not asking I just assumed it was going to be similar price as I've paid before $40-60 a ring to downsize. So my advice is to be sure to ask for price beforehand and compare to other jewelers as this shop charges more than its worth.
