Bad experience almost every time. Worst HEB in all of San Antonio. Last experience in the seafood department. I get up to seafood counter ask for 1.5 pounds of the peeled devained shrimp. I put it down on the conveyor and unload my groceries..my friend tapped me on the shoulder and said the shrimp is no good. He puts it up the package up to my nose and it was the worst fish smell I have ever smelled. Had it tell the lady I'm not paying 18 bucks for spoiled shrimp. Made her smell it too. Another time I was at checkout and the lady was scanning my groceries so fast the lid on the dish liquid came off and was literally all over my stuff. I pay at least 600-800 dollars in groceries ever month this is unacceptable. Oh and this last time with the shrimp situation I spent over 280 in groceries minus the shrimp and had to bag my own groceries. Very short staffed. The week before this I get home with a gallon of milk and the lid was loose and about an inch from the top missing. No big deal but when I poured a glass it was spoiled. God only knows how long that was like that...maybe partly me to blame for not paying more attention before picking it up. Point being they are so busy here have a no care attitude and just completely incompetent. STAY AWAY the time with the dish liquid incident the manager had a no care attitude. I couldn't just leave 200 plus in groceries there which I should've but I just spent two hours picking them all out. I had to wash off all that dish liquid off my groceries when I got home. Including all the produce. Terrible...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI like HEB, and ordinarily have a positive shopping experience no matter which store I go to here in San Antonio Texas. Tonight at around 9pm, I shopped at the 5910 Babcock Rd location. It's not very busy then, and with checkouts had only a few people in line if that. I chose the nearest check out (#1), because it's sole customer's purchase was completed. There were no customers behind me. The person at the register rang the items up with out greeting or eye contact. Still, no one was in line behind me. As she was finishing the bagging up my $30 or so of purchase, she launched into a negative lecture on my lack courtesy to others (?) because I had gone a bit over the 10 item limit sign that I had missed seeing. Still there was no one behind me. This critical "dressing-down" continued for a while with pauses that seemed to invite an argument. When she finished speaking to me, I responded with my only statement: that if I had upset her that much, I would cancel the sale. Still there was no one behind me at that checkout. I then related the incident to the Manager on Duty and left without the groceries I had intended to buy. Still there was no one in that checkout. I am a 60 yr/old disabled veteran with sight and other impairments, but fortunately, courtesy and common sense are not on my list of problems. From my days in the army, I couldn't help but wonder how much of this situation was a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHEB isn't the best grocer in Texas because it dominates the competitors and has few to answer to but it's the best in the nation because it is staffed with excellent forward thinking people who knew the greatest thing they could do is invest back into itself. They built their own supply chain and worked hard to ensure the gainful futures for their employees and stability in a very competitive market for all associated them . They don't let their quality and attention to our needs relax just because they know they have accomplished great success as a grocer who can't be beat in Texas. They continue to strive for a new benchmark for themselves and their vendors and suppliers every single day never taking for granted how slippery a slope of competitiveness an become if you relax on your success . The strategies and determination of other competitors would be hard challenged to come back in Texas against them and yet HEB has never taken us who they serve for granted either . They are an excellent example of American business culture at its finest and they are made in Texas. It makes me proud to know that we have such a great heritage coming from all in our history as it has come to be and that we can add to it with great companies like HEB . Thank y'all for never forgetting about us as your customers and keeping near your hearts the heritage of our...
