Read moreOn Thursday [Nov 16th] around 2 pm, while using a computer [preparing to take employer related test], a woman w/a small child came in and she sat next to me on # 16. From the very start her child [about 4/5 yrs of age] began talking loudly that he wanted a book, then he wanted water, he kept RUNNING back and forth throughout the children's area, up to the front desk and the computer area where his mother was. All she ever did was LOUDLY say 'MASON BEHAVE/MASON STOP/WAIT'. He was so very disruptive, yet, NOT one of the employees ever said anything to the parent nor to the boy about his conduct. He even dragged a chair in front of the part-time employee to keep talking w/her. He started jumping on/off the chair, continually yelling out for his mother to go up front and check out the books he wanted. The parent only yelled back to him. Two ladies using computer #3 kept looking up/at me [indicating how awful the boy was behaving]...I overheard the mother say to her daughter..."lets just go to the Mission library"-they left. I had hoped ROMEO would say something as he had assisted the parent w/something--THERE IS NO DENYING HE HAD TO HAVE HEARD HOW THE BOY WAS YELLING WHILE RUNNING AROUND ALL OVER. Once I too had enough/decided to also leave, I went up to Romeo to voice my concern. He was speaking w/a women--I stood behind her [awaiting my turn], only because he acknowledged me did I move forward and told him of my displeasure w/how no one addressed the boy's constant disruptive behavior. I have witnessed many times how the main librarian will nicely tell a child to behave/lets the parents know to have their children behave. Having said that, I left. Today, I approached Romeo regarding the incident--with no intent other than to let him know I had hoped there was some sort of policy regarding conduct in the library. He immediately informed me that I had embarrassed him because he was on the phone & speaking w/a patron. I told him I wasn't aware--he acknowledged my presence. And, that I was disappointed at how no one did anything and inclined to make a complaint. Romeo made a face and went on to state "I'm not going to argue w/you!". My response was "I'm not arguing w/you..I was simply stating that there should be a policy and I NOW WOULD MAKE A REPORT. He again stated 'I'm not going to argue--do what you want". I said I would and started walking towards computer area. He still kept talking saying "do what you want--don't ever ask me for help--don't ever ask me to help w/any questions regarding job interviews!". How very RUDE and unprofessional!! I cannot help but believe he became so defensive because he knows he could have and should have handled the disruptive situation in an appropriate manner w/the boy's parent instead of...
I can find any topic in books & on video. If there's a book you're interested in, ask if it's there. If it's in the library system, they can put it on hold for you, tell you if it's only available to use in library and/or tell you which branch has a copy. I also have the app MY SAPL. The people there are very helpful. Keep in mind, there are activities available. Storytime for children, quilting classes, yoga, Qi Gong, Tae chi, Crafts. There are also support groups, computer classes, & many more reasons to come here. The staff is friendly, caring, & helpful. This branch sees me at least 3 times a week. They're family. Keep this helpful app in mind, MYSAPL, in mind when you come across video clips of movies, tv cable shows & series on YOUTUBE & FB. You can easily check the app to see if it's. Available in the system. If so, put it on hold to pick-up at the library of your convenience. For me, the great pleasure of watching at home is more than being comfy while watching your videos at home. You can easily pause for RR BREAKS, SNACKS REFILLS, rewind to double check details you might have missed,. My favorite of favorites?? Deleted scenes, gag reels & what went into filming, finding locations & & Soo much more that you miss out on. Let's face it, you'll be checking out tiny 5-7 min clips on YouTube & FB L8R. Best to have the whole yummy enchilada & be in the know. CAPISCE? You can check with the staff or check in the app what's available. Another plus is that you can offer the title as suggested purchases for the library system. When I've done this, I ask to be among the first to check it out when it does become available. This might take a bit, but it's well worth enjoying the complete experience. And finally, for now, many our libraries function as well in times of extreme weather. Excessive heat in the day? Cooling station. Severe cold ? Come in to warm up. They can't stay open 24/7, but it is a welcome respite from severe elements of nature. There are also digital services available. I don't know much about them, but you can ask the staff & they'll be very helpful. Also, for anyone interested, once a month C.I.O.C. ( Cancer Is One Cancer) meets there on the first Saturday of each month. DEBRA ✨PEBBLES✨ RIVAS is our guiding light. We are cancer survivors, people going thru cancer, their friends & family members. We share our stories,we learn about the different forms of cancer, symptoms ,treatments available. We reach out to each other & support each other. We also do EASTER BASKETS & toy drives for the children's hospitals. You are more than welcome to come join...
Read moreI always go and everyone is so helpful, but today their librarian Pat was very rude saying she couldn't give me a new card or renew my account because I owed money. I did not have the cash with me for the fees but really needed to print some paperwork. So all she did was give me my expired library card number. A few minutes later after i failed to log into the computer i asked someone else for help and they were very friendly and helped me get a new card renew my account and print, everything the other lady said I couldn't do. Overall my...
