Hungry Farmer Steakhouse — Restaurant in San Antonio

Let's start with a good stuff! The décor is extremely charming the restaurant is spacious and the music is really exceptional Hank Williams Tammy Wynette feels....Our waitress was straight out of a Quinton Tarantino movie. Replete with full Western wear, hair teased so high she could have been attending a Dolly Parton tribute party And lthe ashes ...you could see from the back row! This is where all the goodness ends. As soon as we sat down we were presented with a salad and asked what kind of dressing we wanted... but I really don't think you can call it a salad it was iceberg lettuce so heavily coated and some kind of chemical I'm assuming to preserve it that you really couldn't taste anything but that...... There were 4 slivers of purple cabbage and some slivers what appeared to be fresh carrots And the most bizarre part was the sad pickle set on top of the so called salad. This isn't your normal pickle that you would find on a salad no no it is a sad flimsy vinegary hamburger pickle..... A pickle sliver barely holding on by it's very preserved green skin. I should not hate on this pickle it was probably the most tasty thing on the salad. We asked for vinegar and oil dressing and that was a mistake. We were brought the cheapest cooking oil you can imagine and what looked like imitation red wine vinegar... I can assure you there is no wine in this solution. I ordered the medium T bone and I wanted a baked potato but all they had was butter for the baked potatoes. Imagine that a steakhouse only having butter for baked potatoes???? couldn't they have sent someone to the grocery store for a little sour cream bacon bits maybe some green onions? I mean, you are a steakhouse! OK let's stay POSITIVE... let's start with the steak first...i ordered it medium rare there was absolutely no crusty carmelized sear just a jalatnous soft barely cooked top but I must admit the quality of the meat stood out and the steak was absolutely edible BUT could have been delicious if it have been prepared correctly. The potato soup had a nice flavor allbeit bland which is understandable for a steakhouse serving mostly Americans but I gotta tell you Progresso can soup is much better .... I took a couple bites and that was it... Finally to the dinner rolls halfway through our meal we were presented with 3 dinner rolls dinner rolls that had clearly been frozen and then microwaved... They were tough and not really edible they were warm on the outside and just hard on the inside. This steakhouse fails in all the ways good steakhouses excel. When you go to a restaurant and spend $30 a plate there is an expectation that the salad you receive will have fresh vegetables and housemaid fresh quality dressing there is also an expectation that you will be able to buy a salt crusted baked or broiled baked potato with all the fixings and finally the landmark the mountain that most steakhouses will put their entire reputation on is the bread.. Places like Logan's steakhouse take break great pride not only in their bread but the butter that they serve it with..... If this place could start making their own dressings investing in the freshness of their food and make biscuits themselves so easy and so cheap it could really change the diner's experience and of course this should go without saying the grill chef needs extensive training.... A nice sear on a steak is a must it's making steaks 101 the chef failed miserably today..... Just writing this review...

This was our experience eating there for the first time😡

JD and I walked in , and they greeted us really quick really fast , they asked us if it was only two and we said yes! she said the host will seat you down

The Host comes up to us pretty quick and is escorting us to the back for a table. as we sit down they are bringing us two salads?

I look at the waitress and I said ,I don’t need a salad thank you? I will be ordering a hamburger , JD said I’ll take the salad The waitress comes back with our sweet tea, I asked her for the hamburger and she said ? we don’t sale hamburgers that’s next-door, I looked at JD and laughed😂 I said oh it’s a different restaurant , she said no ?same restaurant? I just looked at her and I said , OK so do I need to go over there and order my burger?😡 she she said yes , I said well that’s inconvenient😎

I go next-door to order my burger , I told her I wanted everything on there I gave her my debit card to pay she said sorry we only take cash follow the yellow line on the floor🤡 which led me all the wayyyyyy to the front LOL where the cash register was And To be honest, I actually felt like I should be skipping all the way down the yellow brick line

I paid came back and sat down, by this time JD had already ordered his meal, I start laughing about the procedure on how to order a burger. well then this couple sat down next to us, they gave them their salad and their ice tea

The waitress came back and was going to take the order , when the man said They were both having hamburgers😀 well the waitress looks at them and said we don’t sell hamburgers here😡

Well at this point I start laughing out loud and they both looked at me😂

she said you need to go next-door??? The gentleman looks at her and said the same thing I said is it a different restaurant or what???? she said no and she proceeds to tell the story of the restaurant and why they do it this way like we care or if we already knew.

So they said OK fine will walk next-door and she said well you need to pay for your salad and your ice tea First LOL🤣🤣🤣

I could not stop laughing,

Anyway I get up go to the other side of the restaurant and I asked the lady I’m sorry what does the burger have and she said lettuce and tomato I said what about the cheese and the bacon??? she said no that’s extra😡 I looked at her and I said why didn’t you tell me this, this is So crazy

So now she writes a ticket Again and I have to follow the yellow line all the way to the front to pay my almost 4 dollars I go all the way back and give her the receipt then go back to sit down

All this actually stresses me out I ended up getting diarrhea LOL🤡😡

I wasn’t the only one that has experiences this in my opinion why don’t they mention that to people walking in Just a simple (are you having a hamburger ) Would have made a big difference because it’s next-door yes apparently it’s the same owner same restaurant But your new customers don’t know this and we actually don’t care we just...

Just very very disappointed and disrespected. I've never been to this restaurant since I been living here for 40 years. Today was my first time. We entered the steak side in dining and asked where do we order which Millie ( woman at cash register) responded sit in the front area. Well the front area the tables were not clean from people that were eating previously. I blew that off the way Millie had told us rudely to sit. So we ordered our food . My kids had ordered chicken strips which when they were eating one of the nuggets was hard and did not look like chicken. So my kids tore each nugget in half to see if they were all like that. They tried to eat one more but they were grossed out. So after I finished my meal we were going to pay. But Millie came rudely to our table and told us we can't refund you. My wife told her your hospitality is rude. Millie responded we are not rude here in a angry voice. That's when I felt so desrespected and belittled. I went to go pay and explain to Millie, why are you talking to us like this responded? You came in angry with your wife. Y’all were arguing. We were not arguing. It was the way Millie told us to sit in the front in a rude way. That’s what ticked me a little bit. so I told Millie how bad the chicken strips were and he said she said well y’all sat there for 30 minutes and didn’t say nothing but the strips were not touched. They were just broken half because we were trying to see if they were hard or messed up I just don’t think if anybody is running a business they shouldn’t argue with a customer or disrespect them. never in my life I experience disrespect from person who runs a restaurant. you don’t treat your customers like that nobody shouldn’t. at the end of all this, I’m not looking for a discount. I’m just looking for an apology from her at the cash register but instead she tried to just make me feel stupid. please avoid this place. It is very terrible and very bad place to. She is very very desrespectful and rude. To the owner of this business how you going to fix this issue for...
