My husband and I booked this hotel for our honeymoon. While the service was amazing the hotel manager and , concierge were nothing short of wonderful, it’s very overpriced for what it is. We were upgraded from the double queen size bed that we originally booked due to the price being a little more affordable, to a king size room with a riverside view. However, the bed was really uncomfortable and the pillows were not great either. We woke up to hip and back pain each morning. One of the night stands outlets did not work well with only one plug actually usable. The USB ports did not work at all on that side. There’s only one microwave for guests throughout the hotel to use located on the 4th floor (we were on the 11th). There was one snack vending machine and one soda vending machine, the soda machine was out of order and the 12 oz cans inside Starbucks were $3.25 each. Our biggest complaint though, was the holds placed on our debit card without warning. We are regular middle class people, we have made payments for the hotel through Priceline throughout the 8 months of our engagement. When they asked for a card to have on file for “incase we use room service or any possible damages that may occur”, they did not explain that there would be a total of 4 holds placed on our card totaling up to $450. The first two holds happened the night we got there both being $75 then the very next morning upon waking up there was another $119. We went to talk to front desk and they reassured us that there would be no more holds placed and we would get that money back after we left. Then the morning after that we woke up to another $179 hold. Our bank takes that money out of our available balance in our bank account. Which was almost half of the money we had in total to spend for our honeymoon! Money that we weren’t supposed to get back for 3-5 business days after we check out and go home! However, once we met with the hotel manager and let her know that none of this was explained to us upon checking in and we were going to have to cut our stay short because we were afraid they would take out so much to hold that we wouldn’t be able to do much of anything else for our honeymoon, she was able to get 3 of the holds dropped that same day. We checked out yesterday and this morning we’re still waiting for the $179 to be back in our account. The manager was very kind, understanding and patient with us. Which helped us to feel less silly about not knowing that what we should have done was provided a credit card and not our debit card.

We have stayed at this Westin off and on for about 15 years our kids actually grew up staying here but sadly the level of service has dropped considerably, I had to ask for luggage assistance it used to be as soon as I pulled into the drive the door personnel greeted us and jumped on the luggage , the staff at the reception seem distracted except for Kristen who promptly checked me into my 2 rooms for three nights she was right on point . We get checked in and our luggage gets delivered after having to ask for assistance we get to our room and find there is no remote for the TV I call down to guest services and waited for 45 minutes and no one has come up with one I happen to look in the hall and spot a housekeeping attendant named Flor who immediately went and got me a remote , the second night we noticed we couldn't control the temperature on the AC so it was a bit chilly in the room so I just turned it off and it was comfortable enough , our sons room had a leaking faucet which was fixed immediately however my other son noticed a hissing sound coming from the shower wall knowing from experience that there was a leaking pipe in the wall which we reported . On our departure day I called for luggage assistance twice and nobody answered the phone so I took care of it myself , I wasn't even offered assistance to load my vehicle at the drive. I did notify the Front desk manager upon a checkout about the issues so they can address them especially the maintenance issues. Not only am I a loyal customer of Marriott Bonvoy but also a retiree from said company I spent 31 years in hospitality and always gave my best service possible and I didn't see the level service I am accustomed to I really hope this is not what the future of Westin holds , what happened to "Surprise and Delight" ? I would like to continue staying here but please step up your game.

This hotel is absolutely disgusting. Not only how dirty the place was checking was horrible the manager should be fired for the things she said to us. We booked 2 months out and called the hotel to arrange adjoining rooms they noted it. Yes I know it isn’t guaranteed but when traveling with a medically compromised kiddo it is important. Before we arrived they decided to upgrade our rooms. That would have been great if it was only myself and husband. When we book we book the room we want not expecting an upgrade. So then they tell us they can’t accommodate us. Ivan went above and beyond to get us the rooms we booked while the manager says to me you didn’t book a handicap room. Your son doesn’t look handicapped. While my son doesn’t need the roll in shower we save that for guests that need that feature. He still has a medical condition. She then wanted to know what his condition was. So I had to explain he is in liver failure. Which anyone knows is against the law to ask what someone’s disability is. The manager I think Diane or Dianna or something can’t remember her name she was so bad then asks the same questions about 10 times trying to see if something will change. Also they charge extra for driving an suv for valet. The hotel hasn’t been cleaned in probably a good year. The floor in one room was so slanted the kids were getting headaches due to how tilted when sleeping. Let’s talk about the mold growing on the walls. Many people in the lobby talked about the mold smell. Yes those are used contacts on the side of the bed. We only stay at Westins, JW’s, Ritz Carlton, St. Regis and Autograph collection properties. This place needs to be changed to a Fairfield Inn.

Visiting San Antonio, Texas presents many options for lodging, but the most desirable place to stay is on the famed Riverwalk. If you like chain hotels and want a place to stay that is right on the water, an excellent choice is the Westin Riverwalk. Large in size, this Westin hotel has 473 rooms on 15 floors. The rooms are larger than expected and if you want a view of the river, be sure to ask for a room on the Riverwalk side. The balconies will add to the enjoyment, too. However, getting a room that is too high up could result in a narrower, more limited view than you would like. I recommend a room a little lower, for a good view of the Riverwalk. This Westin hotel offers an outdoor pool, exercise room, restaurant, poolside bar, grab and go café, and more. It has large meeting spaces, too, and is popular for business events. Another standout is the lobby. It is large and elegant, with furniture that invokes an antique, artistic vibe. Being right on the beautiful Riverwalk is certainly the best reason to stay at this Westin Hotel. Just head down to the lower level, walk outside, and there you are, ready to walk! But the appeals of Westin Riverwalk San Antonio go well beyond this. The service is excellent, the rooms are clean, and they take great care of you from the moment you check in to the time you check out and head home. San Antonio, Texas offers many places around the city for lodging. But if you want to be where the action is, I recommend the Riverwalk and a stay at the Westin. It met or exceeded all expectations, and it earns an easy five stars from me.

Do not stay at this hotel. They use unethical if not illegal business practices to say the least. I stayed at this hotel in mid-February for the TMEA convention. I was charged $544 on February 17th for my stay and then $544 again yesterday plus a cafe purchase of $16.35 on the same dates as above. I spoke to someone in the group office who was no help and passed me on to the accounting office. I have left 2 messages and spoken the front desk. The gentleman at the front desk was polite and apologetic. He gave me the accounting email and said the charges SHOULD be refunded with in 5-7 days. We are at day 5 with no sign of any refund. Shame on your company for doing this. If your property made an accounting error, you should have REFUNDED us, THEN charged again. Not make unauthorized charges and then hold our money for days. I know why they did it, to make money off of the interest on of the people you purposely double charged. They claim that they made the second charge and the refund on the same day and that it’s basically the bank’s fault that I haven’t seen the money. They also stated that they KNEW that banks take 5 to 7 days to process a refund, but process charges immediately. They acted like me eventually getting my money back was compensation and that it’s not a big deal. The lady from the corporate office even laughed and said she would be annoyed by it too. Either Marriott folks are stupid or they think that their customers are stupid. I will never stay at a Marriott property again. I truly hope this review prevents others as well.
