Read moreAs a native Houstonian, the San Antonio River Walk is a gemstone! I'd been to San Antonio once before on a 5th grade field trip, and again a 2nd time 10yrs later visiting Six Flags w/ family & having dinner at the Hooters on the River Walk. My third time visiting in 2017, was my first time actually experiencing the ENTIRETY of the River Walk! And it's a workout 🤯 There's so much to see, and our focus was going to be just a walkthrough of the entire trail, but without knowing our way, we knew we'd eventually get lost, so we just perused any & every store that caught our interest. Almost every restaurant had a view of the water; there were also a lot of street artists & vendors selling their crafts.
The River Walk's allure is definitely best at night, and it was this artist's dream 🤩😍😍 The night lights, colors & proximity of the water greatly romanticized the experience, and it was beautiful to see all the diversity of people & shops on the strips.
At the time we stayed at a hotel within a 20min walking distance, so we wouldnt have to worry about parking, which we knew would be hella difficult to find. And although the River Walk was gorgeous, it was most certainly crowded aF. Because the River Walk had no guard rails, with as many people as there were, you have to be extremely careful walking in the crowd so you dont fall off the path into the water.
Definitely another beautiful adventure worth experiencing at least once in the span of 2 days. And that's just dedicated to the River Walk & the mall itself, separate from the other attractions like the Alamo, Ripley's Believe or Not, House of Wax & other museums. Those are definitely the tourist spots, but The River Walk in detail is one of the prettiest, most interesting & eclectic outdoor malls the Houston area has to experience. I look forward to...
