First let me preface by saying I have not tried their food and I wasn’t given the opportunity to dine in. I called on Monday 3/17 and spoke to Nicole I made a 6:45pm reservation for outside on 3/22 for 10 ppl, I mentioned to Nicole we more then likely would have more guests attending she was fine with that but did mention their was a 14 person cap. Fast forward to Thursday 3/20 my party has increased to 18 ppl so I call the restaurant and speak to another Nicole (not the same Nicole from Monday) and ask if we can reserve a smaller table near my already reserved table. Come to find out I don’t have a reservation after all, Nicole from Monday didn’t reserve my table. Second Nicole places me on hold and gets Jayda on the line, she then tells me Nicole from Monday is new and didn’t reserve my table, had she reserved it correctly I would have received a text confirmation which I did not Jayda also proceeds to tell me the restaurant does not reserve table pass 6pm. Keep in mind this is 4 days after I thought my table was reserved so I already have plans set in motion with friends and family a few from out of town. After I explain to Jayda my Monday conversation with Nicole and after she has a better understanding she does try to work with me and is able to reserve a table inside for a party of 14 with the possibility of reserving a smaller table near the other table to accommodate the additional 4 ppl. Jayda told me she would call me back the following day (Friday) to see if she could move my table outside and hopefully move things around to obtain the second table reservation. I never received a call from Jayda on Friday or Saturday morning (the day of the party) so I called myself and coincidentally get the first Nicole from Monday on the line. I tell Nicole Jayda has been working with me to fix the mixup she then puts me on hold and gets mgr Louis on the line he tells me he’s aware of the issue and is working on getting us the second table he reassures me that ppl cancel reservations all the time so he doesn’t foresee a problem getting us a table and to call him in a couple of hours to confirm IF he hasn’t called me back. Fast forward again to 4pm the day of the party which is only 2 hours before the party my husband and I call to speak to Louis but he’s in a meeting, since we’re running out of time we explain to the woman that answered the situation but before we can tell her that Jayda and Louis have been trying to work with us she cuts us off and says “we don’t reserve tables over 14ppl” I didn’t get her name but she was rude and lacked manners she wouldn’t let my husband get a word in. About 10 minutes after the call the same woman called me to tell me she couldn’t accommodate us but that the table was never guaranteed there was no empathy no apology to the inconvenience what so ever. This call was at 5pm one hour before our guest were to arrive. When I asked if I could go early as a walk in she said “no it’s reservations only we don’t have anymore tables available, are you keeping the reservation or canceling?” Like she didn’t have time to talk to me and couldn’t be bothered to stay on the line. The lack of consideration was unbelievable. My husband and I had to scramble to find another restaurant to accommodate 18 ppl in one hour thank God Rosario’s rooftop was available they were very accommodating the staff was excellent the food was delicious and the drinks were great. One thing I also wanted to mention is after this whole ordeal (searching for a new restaurant, having to let our guests know of the changes literally 45 mins before our 6pm meet up time) Jayda call me 15 min till 6 to tell me that she was able to secure a table for our 4 guests. I couldn’t do that to my quests and change plans AGAIN. The lack of communication, lack of empathy, lack of consideration the rudeness is reason enough to never go to Domingo Restaurant. Word of mouth is a powerful thing I wish you luck but if you continue to treat customers like you did to me and my family I seriously doubt you’ll stay...
Read moreMy family and I ate lunch at this restaurant on 27 Mar 2025. I was a little bummed that this restaurant didn't serve "brunch" items when we stopped in because I was looking forward to eating some eggs and bacon for my first meal of the day. When I looked online, they actually had a brunch menu so I wasn't sure why it wasn't served while we were there considering it was within the normal brunch window. Regardless, we were hungry and had to eat before it got too late in the day, so we opted to just eat here instead of trying to find another restaurant nearby that was still serving breakfast-ish items.
The restaurant wasn't busy when we walked in but slowly became crowded the longer we stayed in there, thus showing how popular this restaurant must be. The restaurant décor was nice and the atmosphere was very comforting (though it became pretty loud in there when more people sat down). Our main server, John P. (JP), did a remarkable job that early afternoon - he was extremely attentive, friendly, and highly efficient. Oftentimes, you can see how some servers pick and choose which table to provide great service and which table to provide mediocre service. However, JP was phenomenal as I observed him providing that quality service with several tables around the restaurant, clearly validating his consistent workmanship.
We ordered the Mexican Shrimp Cocktail, Skillet Cornbread, and Heritage Beef Taquitos for our appetizers; and the Grilled Adobo Chicken Tacos, the Baja Fish Tacos, and Halibut Rojo for our entrées. Everything was good with the taquitos and tacos being the star performers that day. The shrimp cocktail provided a balance of flavors and tasted fresh; however, I was disappointed with the size of the shrimp. I think my mind was too focused on this being a traditional shrimp cocktail dish you would get at steakhouses where the shrimp is basically the size of the dish it's served in. The cornbread was different, but good...but I can say that I've had better. The halibut was also good, but I think since I was tasting this dish essentially as my first meal of the day, I don't think all my senses were ready for it as I thought it would be - but the blend of spices did complement the fish well.
Overall, I "liked" this restaurant as depicted in my 4-star rating. The service was outstanding and the food was good but with some of the items being nothing spectacular to write home to Mom about. Since I was visiting this city for an event, I don't know if I'll ever be in San Antonio again considering I've only been in this city three times in my life. But who knows...the world works in mysterious ways at times. If I do plan on visiting and decide to stay at The Canopy by Hilton again, I'll be sure to swing by and try the dinner items (there were a couple of things on the dinner menu that caught my attention). The prices were reasonable and I highly respect this business for their continued support to the men and women of the Armed Forces, including its Veterans - thank you for that! I recommend this restaurant...

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my recent experience at Domingo was so disappointing that I feel compelled to warn others. From the moment we walked in, the service was lackluster at best. The staff seemed uninterested in providing a pleasant experience, and we were seated outside on a rather chilly evening. When asked to be moved inside to one of the empty tables, we were denied despite the visibly vacant tables available. A couple next to us had to take their dinner date to be seated at the bar. When we asked about the patio heaters, we were told that the propane tanks were empty.
The food, which was touted as a highlight, was underwhelming to say the least. I ordered the braised short ribs which was listed under their signature dishes. The food arrived lukewarm and lacked any discernible flavor. It was clear that it had been sitting out before being served and that the chef put zero love (seasoning) into the dish. For a restaurant that prides itself on high-quality ingredients, the execution was shockingly poor.
To make matters worse, the atmosphere was far from the inviting, upscale experience the restaurant promotes. One of our dining companions asked if they could add beans to his veggie tacos and was promptly given "no" for an answer. Interestingly enough, the veggie tacos were indeed served with beans. Why the server would tell a customer "no" before at least pretending to check with the chef is beyond me. Blatant disregard for customers with dietary restrictions.
For the prices they charge, I expect a much higher standard of food, service, and overall experience. Needless to say, I won’t be returning, and I suggest others steer clear of Domingo if you're looking for an enjoyable dining experience in San Antonio. There are far better options along the riverwalk that truly value...
