Tried to point out a flaw in an assignment and showed them where ambiguity was showing instead of clear concise directions of what is expected for the assignment and everyone up to the Dean has been unable to show me otherwise and just decide to side with the Moronic Professor. I informed them that I was willing to discuss the issue in length, but no one reached out other than by email which isn't conducive to a discussion but meh...Also told them I was more than willing to do the extra stuff they were requesting if they could rewrite the instructions so they were clear and concise as to what is expected of the students...that wasn't done either; mind you this was a Training and Development course...guess you would think clear and concise instructions would be a non-issue for a class like this since that is a key component to any training and development plan. Now they can reap the consequences of failing to take in outside information from lowely students with the fact that my reviews will hurt their bottom line to some degree. Even if I only ever reach 1% of all people looking into going to that school and they decide to go somewhere else, that is a lot of cash over a lifetime. Guess they forgot that while I am only just a student I am the client. Also, it is rather annoying that they think that everyone in attendance is getting their first Master's degree and that we don't know jack...not like I am starting my third Master's at a different college this...
Read moreThis review, is not solely based on this location per se, but rather DeVry University as a whole. Also, I have attended campuses in Anaheim, Long Beach, San Diego, and Pomona.
Starting with the positives, most of the professors on campus are great. Many are very experienced, fair, and show a genuine interest in helping students. Other staff personnel were friendly and helpful as well. I also liked the convenience of only having to attend one live lecture per week and being able to turn in work from home.
Now for the negatives. The worst part of DeVry is the tuition rates, but not only because tuition is excessive from DeVry being a for-profit organization, but because they charge the same rate for online courses as they do for on-site courses which is beyond ridiculous. Price is what you pay and value is what you get. To say you get even half the value of on-site courses with online courses would be putting it nicely.
I've had many issues with online professors, but never with professors on campus. Most (with the exception of very few) of the online professors seem as if they do the bare minimum. Tardiness is common, many neglect to respond to students in a timely manner, most won't even take 30 minutes out of their day to make a simple live video to help students. I've also witnessed some unfair/bizarre feedback for submitted assignments from online professors as well which made it seem as if the professor assigned a grade without even peeking at...
Read moreThe first set of 8 week classes was great, I was genuinely enjoying the experience, the professors I had are great and the students were engaged. The second set of 8 weeks started out good, but it didnt take long for weird stuff to start happening. I've had the same passwords for years and then all of a sudden my passwords weren't working, which would normally not be an issue but I kid you not it took hours just for me to log in. Then I when I finally got it I wasn't able to post a response to the discussion questions. This happened everyday, I would have to reset my password and took forever to log in. I called I.T. and they were only able to help out so much. Ultimately the problem was solved, about two days later. Another issue was the inconsistent help. I called my student advisors number to get help with my log in etc but I the student I was assigned at the beginning of my time at Devry I rarely spoke with. it was generally a different person every time which seemed to make it a challenge for the advisors to keep track of my progress/issues. I was constasntly repeating myself and getting nowhere. It's gotten to a point where I'm just over it. Its as if someone is preventing me from completing my classes. If I cant retake the classes with no interference then I need a full refund because I put forth a massive amount of energy and time into these courses that way I can fully understand...
