Cargo Cafe - Centerside — Restaurant in San Diego

This is a cafe located in a business park per se - 2 high rises. There aren't other food options that you could walk to for food while on break or lunch from your office. I add this info because it seems that if there were other options people may not use Cargo Cafe. I typically only get beverages here and have purchased beverages a few times at this location. On this visit I opted for a breakfast bowl. The menu item is Scramble Protein Bowl: Eggs, Sausage, Potatoes, cheese. I added pickled onions. The menu board in store didn't specify that the sausage is chorizo sausage or I wouldn't have selected this item. The item took a long time to prepare and seemed to be prepackaged and microwaved. The label was how is discovered the sausage is chorizo. The components were all stuck together and not due to the melted cheese. You know when you microwave things too long and then they stick together-thats what it was. I gave the food a 3 star because it was eggs, sausage potatoes and cheese, but it wasn't flavorful and didn't seem to have been prepared on site, it seemed to be reheated and it took way too long for a reheated dish. Service gets 4 stars because the staff taking orders were pleasant and courteous. The atmosphere is very nice. If your order would come out faster it would be a nice place to eat/drink. This particular Cargo Cafe is located at the Centerside Building in Mission Valley. When you park in the guest parking lot, you get 1 hour free, which is more than enough time to grab and drink and bit here.

I had a good cortado and a fantastic soyrizo breakfast empanada from a local vendor. The cortado was good with a rich coffee flavor and a good smoothness. It just was a little heavy on the foam, not common with a cortado.

Like said, the empanada was great. The filling was quite delicious. They soyrizo was scrambled in with a very good amount of eggs, which made the empanada shine. The crust of the empanada was very good, too. It was crisp in the right places and had a good softness in the right places.

The service was upbeat and friendly. They offer breakfast burritos, paninis, smoothies, and salads, too. Not to mention avocado toast and specialty seasonal beverages.

Friendly staff and delicious pastries and food. I am a tea drinker and I was pleasantly surprised to be offered several fresh loose leaf tea options. My Italian friend who was with me was very impressed with the cappuccino they made for her too. The cafe is tucked away in the courtyard area of the business park. They had lots of indoor and outdoor seating with outlets everywhere if you need to plug in your devices. We worked outside on the patio while we enjoyed our beverage and food from Cargo Cafe.
