Embracing Peace (Unconditional Surrender) — Attraction in San Diego

I visited this statue of 'Unconditional Surrender' popularly called the Kissing Sailor during my visit to San Diego last week. It is about 25 feet tall, and the actual size can be comprehended only upon walking close to it. I found that the statue and the pose is graceful and evoke strong emotions in me. The statue is based on the famous photograph that first appeared in the 1945 Life magazine. I visited it on way to the USS Midway Museum that is along the harbor in San Diego I found there were plenty of shops and eateries nearby, notably among them the San Diego Fish Market and the Seaport Village. There is also a large parking area with the rates being two dollars for 2 hours, though I simply walked from the Hostel on 3rd Avenue to this place. The surrounding area is also beautiful, and there are also several benches installed to take a break at gaze at the harbor and the fishing boats parked there. Whether you live in San Diego or you're just visiting you should definitely visit the Unconditional Surrender Statue at least once

Essentially, this is a park that overlooks the bay. There are benches, and it's a nice place to relax. The statue depicts a famous photo from the 40s. It is larger than life, and is a great place to snap a picture of your own. That being said. This is a popular attraction for tourists

The USS Midway museum (aircraft carrier) is directly to the North of the statue, and Coronado Island is directly across from it. Sit on one of the many benches and watch the ships as they pass by or catch the sunset. There is also a Bob Hope memorial in walking distance

Some tips: Try to recreate the famous kissing pose with your significant other. There will most likely be others in the area doing the same. Offer to take their picture, and they will most likely take yours for you as well. Such a beautiful experience! I have always wanted to check out this gem. Every time me and my husband visit San Diego we forget. We decided to do a day trip and make this sight a part of our visit bucket list. We parked about a mile away just so we can take in on a walk and see all the beautiful lights at night. Absolutely stunning!!! It wasn't crowded at all. The statue is well lit and everyone around is so kind and helps take your perfect picture. I can't wait to go back and see it again.
