Stayed at the Embassy Suites which this restaurant is conveniently located next to. My second day I stopped into the restaurant for lunch. With it opening at 11:30am and it being a Monday I was the second person in there when I arrived shortly before noon. I ordered the Mediterranean Cobb salad with grilled chicken. About 10 minutes after me a gentlemen came in and also sat at the bar and placed his order. About 20 minutes after my order I was told my plate was coming shortly, just waiting on the grilled chicken. Finally, 28 minutes after I ordered, the gentlemen next to me received his burger and then my salad was brought. If it is rush time and you have a lot going on, I can understand it taking 30 min for a salad due to the chicken. But with only 3 people in the restaurant, I don't think a salad with grilled chicken should come out at the same time as a burger, especially if the burger is ordered 10 min after. As for the salad, it was good with the vegetables fresh, the chicken was slightly overcooked but, I get it, a breast is tough to get right. Over the next few days I just decided to order for pick up to take to my room. Ordered the cheesesteak, bread was nice and soft, meat was also a little overcooked but overall pretty good. Another night I ordered the cheeseburger, medium. Again slightly overcooked and under seasoned, but I guess its better than undercooked! The staff was very polite and welcoming, and the food just okay. In the end, I have had better but I have had much worse...
Read moreI tripped on this restaurant while searching for NY Pizza near me. Ive seen it before when walking by (spend a lot of rime across the street at the Hyatt and shop at Office Depot) but never contemplated going in until I read the reviews. We ordered a few of the "fan favorites" for what we were sure would be an amazing meal.
The pepperoni oizza had the taste and style I was looking for but not the best NY pizza.
The Meatball appetizer is HUGE, perfectly seasoned and comes with a sauce and bread that is the perfect match.
The stuffed onion ring was nothing more than a mass of cheese in a crispy crust that took on the oil it was fried in. Not good at all.
The NY West burger was another disappointment. The bun eas over toasted and burned on the top and the meat (a blend of suasage and beef something we love) was flat and not flavorful. We try burgers all ovver town amd the best at this blend is The Hopping Pig.
Nornally I would make a second forray to try some of the other favorites but we wont be returning. The service was horribly slow and basically non existent with the food ticket time a bit longer than we'd like. It wasnt busy and they were staffed well. I think if the bartender would have served our table like he did a few others around us we might have felt differently but ...on to the next NY...
Read moreThis was the worst bit of lack of service that I have ever had from an restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant, we waited to be seated and the blonde waitress with a pony tail appeared and said there was only one table available and it was inside and this was okay with us. She turned her back and walked away, without showing us where the table was. We stood by for a few minutes for her to show us to the table. There were a couple of empty tables and therefore we just took a seat at one of the empty tables . I could see she had an issue from the beginning. We waited for approximately 20 min without anyone taking our order. The same waitress seated two other tables and help them immediately with their order When I asked her why she had not taken our order, she got an attitude. Therefore we just left the restaurant. I don’t trust anyone serving me food when they have a problem with me. Moreover, it’s a shame when my 4 year old son had to witness such behavior. We came to San Diego from Las Vegas and I was not about to let her spoil our vacation. Not sure what her problem was. I don’t like passing judgment on anyone, nonetheless I’m sure I know what her issue is but let’s just say she didn’t...
