Beautiful, well-manicured, hilltop park with outstanding views of the surrounding area, including Tijuana and Mexican islands to the south, parts of downtown San Diego, and expansive vistas of land to the east. The grass is green and well-maintained with a path that meanders from the base of the hill on the corner of 26th and J Street up to the top and leads to the opposite side, past a playground and fenced basketball court. Tables and benches are sparse, so expect to sit in the grass if you're planning a picnic. Only qualm is that the hill is eroding onto the sidewalk on the west side, which should be addressed by the city. Go check out the views and bring takeout from one of the nearby...

It has a spectacular view of the harbor both central and south. I recommend it to anyone. It has a kids playground grassy areas, basketball courts but is sparse on benches, but plenty of green grass and you'll get a workout if you dont bring everything the first time and have to go to the car....
Read moreI would say it's alright if you get the right time of day when there's no one there. Don't bother looking for public restrooms. I don't remember ever seeing a physical bathroom building the times I've gone. I've visited this park plenty of times. The portapoty is disgusting. Bring your own TP or if you have kids use baby wipes. The nearest clean bathroom would be a block or two away at the local 99...
