I decided to give this place a try, again, because we heard of the change in ownership. Sadly, different owner, same lack of basic customer service. Staff seem to be burdened to acknowledge customers upon entering (the exception is the young man with a speech impediment who is the only pleasant person there). The lady there ignored some customers in favor of others and was extremely abrupt with her responses and unhelpful. I thought that I must have offended her until I asked 2 different people to retrieve my order and they reported similar experiences. Initially, the food was good but subsequently went downhill. When the food started matching the service, it's time to stop patronizing. The patties were consistently good. Sometimes the meal has plantains, sometimes not; fish is sometimes red snapper, sometimes not and is instead a barely edible, overcooked aberration that rivals chewing gum; fried chicken meal has sauce, sometimes not. Request for sauce or condiments are completely ignored( I would pay for them if necessary)and if the order is made incorrectly ( their mistake), they expect you to pay for it ( small vs large order). The last time we were there, the food was not good. We have had better service buying tacos at the food truck outside...
Read moreMy friend and I live in Mexico, but I'm from the east coast and very well versed in Jamaican cuisine. So, we were very excited to get some good Jamaican food while we were in town. Unfortunately this food fell flat overall. 7The worst was the oxtail; which almost everyone in line purchased. Maybe this was the problem. 70%of the oxtails in my platter were tough/undercooked, so I was unable to eat them. I don't know about y'all, but I'm used to my oxtails being so tender that they fall off of the bone. These oxtails needed another hour or 2 in the pot. We went at 5pm, so maybe these were from a new batch. Going earlier in the day might be better. It was very disappointing considering the prices.
I also purchased the brown stew fish platter. This saved the day for me. It took longer than everyone else's food, but that is because it was made fresh. It was soooo worth the wait! Very delicious and nicely seasoned. The ginger pineapple drink was tasty and the rice & peas and Cabbage were bland. I also recommend skipping the desserts*. So, my review is bland, undercooked, expensive food. I would skip it if you are looking for some tender oxtail.
The pics are my delicious looking small platter and all the ovtail the I couldn't eat because they were...

This is the worse Jamaican restaurant I have EVER eaten. I order Brown Stew chicken, Ox tails, and combo of Jerk chicken and Curry Goat. When I order the ox tail, the gentleman said that it was not ready yet, but for me it is ready.....what does that mean? Obviously he though he could serve me oxtail that was not cooked completely. The meat was not falling off the bone. It still had a chewy taste. The brown stew chicken tasted scorched; it was not flavorful at all. The jerk chicken was mediocre along with the curry goat. My husband is from the island so we were hoping to taste some really good food but, it was disappointing. The salad that can with the meal was very crunchy-almost raw and it is cooked. Plantains and peas and rice were good.
The also had a grill set-up outside that served a variety of seafood dishes. I order the shrimp soup and wish I had save my $5. If you have high blood pressure, stay away! The soup is so salty!!! Shrimp soup with on shrimp and tins of potatoes. Never again. The dumpling inside the soup was not cooked completely. I only ate my one shrimp and tossed everything else.
The two stars is generous. It is real Jamaican food but it does not...
