El Paisa Fresh Mexican Grill — Restaurant in San Diego

Worst restaurant experience I have ever had in my entire life. This place is horrible. I’ve been going there since it opened over 20 years ago always had great food. Never had a problem. Went there today after not going for over six years because I moved to Arizona ordered a shrimp burrito which the lady brought the spiciest burrito I’ve ever had in my entire life, and I grew up next to Ducati Mexico Decided to order a Carne Asada burrito because the shrimp burrito was just too hot. Ask for a Carne Asada burrito with nothing but meat, sour cream and cheese got the burrito. It was full of pico de gallo, guacamole and everything. I told them I didn’t want when I opened the burrito to take a bite. I told the lady that also runs the bar area that she had brought me the wrong burrito not once but now twice, and she told me that I didn’t know how to speak Spanish and that I was stupid and that I didn’t know what I ordered. Well, OK, she can save whatever she wants about me because oh I’m white. But my wife’s from Mexico City originally and speaks fluent Spanish and grew up in Mexico then she said she was gonna return our money for the two burritos that she messed up on and still charged me for the shrimp burrito that she got wrong the first time then I left the restaurant so I did not make a scene walk outside called them to ask for a manager so I did not make a scene inside their restaurant and she answered the phone and couldn’t speak. English. Didn’t know what a manager is. Didn’t know what a supervisor is, but I’m the stupid one cause I don’t know how to speak Spanish hands-down I would not go to this place if it was the last restaurant on earth When they passed me to whoever they said was the supervisor he was rude unprofessional, and started talking very rudely to me again don’t go here not worth it and by the way, the food is freaking horrible and by the way, I don’t give a damn about speaking Spanish or English. Another taco joint with the same name as one down the street: El Paisa. But this one is different. They added the word Grill to their name.

As you enter, it's like you're still outside. Dining under the patio. It's pretty cool. They even have a bar. It was empty at the time; I will have to come back friday night....yo no se. The kitchen and the place where you order is inside. As you're ordering you see the al pastor on el trompo, carne asada on the grill, and big jugs of aguas. Me gusta lo que veo!

El Paisa has two sizes of tacos. Tacos and Mini Tacos. I like to think of them as California sized tacos and tacos estilo Mexicano. They have all the carnes you would want in a taco plus some carnes I wouldnt want in my tacos. Im not touching anyones cabeza, buche, or tripa. No no noooo, no no no way jose.

The al pastor had me at hola. As soon as I walked in and I saw the trompo spinnin' round and round, and I had to have it. I was NOT disappointed. Thin slices of tender carne dripping in sweet juices hinting of pineapple, chiles, cebolla, and spices. Don't miss the tacos al pastor. Deliciosos!

The lengua was sooooo tender. I haven't found too many taquerias that get lengua right. This place has got it down. There is only one person that can make it better: mi esposa. I know not everyone is into lengua but if you are, give El Paisa lengua a try.

The carne asada tasted like it was actually grilled. Like the way I grill my carne asada in my backyard. It was delicious. And the carnitas tasted like carnitas. This place makes great tacos.

Came in with a huge group and was practically ignored the whole time one of my friends waited an hour for a refill and the rest of us were looking over at the bartender for beers so I eventually went up to the bar myself after waiting a good 25 minutes for the waiter and waitress to come check in on us after ordering abundance of food and drinks they choose to take care of their friends at the bar rather than their customers will never be back at this restaurant due to the horrible service the second time I approach the bar the bartender gave me a rude look and attitude and told me I have to wait and literally made me wait there for about 10 minutes looking stupid until my buddies told me we’re just gonna grab our tab and go so don’t even bother ordering another drink I would never recommend this place to absolutely anyone all the girls that work here are stuck up and think that they’re something when they’re really absolutely nothing they look like they came straight from over the border and have no hospitality business there better working at...
