Joan B. Kroc Theatre — Attraction in San Diego

It was our first time and we want more! I went with my husband, my friend and her husband. My friend and I are fans of the Bridgerton series and were excited to come across something like this on social media. We were intrigued and immediately bought tickets. It did not disappoint! The performers were truly incredible! I thought they were just going to play straight through but every few songs they would stop to engage with the audience, giving us information, room to breathe and get to know them. It made the experience somehow more intimate. The performance itself was mind blowing. I think what won me over was the enthusiasm and passion each performer put into their playing. You felt their excitement and it was thrilling! And my goodness! The candles! The flowers! Though it only covered the stage, we still felt as if we were transported to some other magical realm. I’m tempted to buy every candle I can get my hands on if it means recreating this mesmerizing atmosphere. This theater is a hidden gem in San Diego donated by the late Joan Kroc. The entire facility is amazing but the theater is the crown jewel. A sophisticated theater with an impressive stage crew. I have been involved in multiple productions here and never disappointed at the flexibility this theater has for a show. Additionally, it’s a pleasure to be a part of the audience- large seats with ample leg room and a mezzanine level. There is no bad seat here. And there is a nice lobby, outside patio and plenty of restrooms during intermission....

I want to be fair. The concept of this is SO much fun. I loved it. However, it’s very much theatre and as a result the “evidence” that is presented is lacking detail and clarity. For some that might not matter, but for me, trying to do my best to make the best decision I struggled. I left not understanding the crash itself. There was dramatic crying and outbursts that took away from the concept and I wish in place of the theatrics there was just a little more effort placed in the evidence itself.
